Vehicle Detail

Unfortunately, due to health and finances, I must sell my beautiful 1954 Mercury Monterey 2 door hardtop (no pillar post) car. I've enjoyed this car for 7 years and it is now time to part with it. The color is Boysenberry (purple) and is flashy with the Broadway Classic whitewall radial tires and chrome smoothy wheels. Also added for the old school 50's look are the chrome dummy spotlights. The trunk lid is shaved like we did back in the day. I hope the pictures do the body justice as to how straight sides are and how solid the body is. There are a couple of bubbles on the front bottom corners of the doors but nothing to get alarmed about. I have plenty of spare paint mixed for the car. The engine is the old reliable Y block Ford company motor that never skips a beat! No smoke, no blow-by and pretty darned dry. The transmission is the old Merc-O-Matic which is the same as Fordomatic and it shifts and performs as it should. The car stops as it should and the hand brake works. This car has manual steering and brakes. The car steers great and has a very tight frontend suspension. The car originally had a 6 volt electrical system which was not reliable. I had it changed over to 12 volts and it made a world of difference. I didn't hook up 12 volt gauges so that is something that should be done. The chrome on the car is mostly new front & rear bumpers, side spears etc. The stainless is also excellent. The glass is all good and the windows roll up and down with ease. The interior is nice in black and white vinyl including white vinyl headliner. It has a radio with cassette tape player. The undercarriage is solid. The front cross member is excellent along with the frame, floor pans and inner rocker panels. The dual exhaust system is solid with a nice rumble tone to it. I have and had many antique autos and this one has been one of the most dependable cars I ever had. Of course it's my opinion but I feel the 54 Mercury was the most beautiful Mercury ever produced with its grill, dashboard and taillights. The taillights are pot metal chrome and do have some pits on them. The trunk is solid with no rust through and is carpeted. As you can see the engine compartment isn't chromed out for shows, it's the way it should be. This car isn't a $25,000 show points car but it is a very nice straight dependable driver and ready to have fun with at shows and cruises. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I feel I've described the car to the best of my ability. I don't like bad surprises and I don't want to give out any either. I am selling this car with NO RESERVE! The car must go, please only bid if you are serious and can afford to purchase the car. If I could afford it, I wouldn't be selling it. A bid on e-bay for a car is a legal binding agreement so please no games. If you have any real or serious questions call me at 856-327-0289 or my cell 609-501-5192. I'll be happy to assist you the best I can. Also the car is painted under hood, trunk and door jambs. All new weather stripping was installed. I have a clean clear New Jersey title for the car. Good Luck and Happy Bidding the winner gets a great piece of American History. The winner is responsible for shipping but I'll assist in any way I can to help you from here. Thanks John
