I think this is the end of the line for my Jag. We brought it home from getting the emmissions inspection done (it passed) and it won't start. I believe it is the fuel pump, which some of you know is tucked neatly inside the fuel tank. We already had to drop the tank about a year ago to replace the fuel line that goes from the pump to the bottom of the tank, and I am not up for that level of effort. It is time for it to go. The good: Very strong engine. Transmission is very smooth. Up until the fuel pump failure we ran the car very regularly. The tires are decent, and there is a 5th tire and alloy wheel in the trunk. The A/C blows cold. The body panels are in good shape, except for the surface rust on the driver's side rear fender (see pic). The front passenger and rear seats are ok, the driver seat is torn. Other than the things you can see, you will have to take my word on the other stuff, it is dead in front of my house. The bad: There is LOTS of stuff wrong with this car. First and foremost, I believe the fuel pump has failed. The engine will turn-over, but will not fire. There is no "fuel-pump noise" when you turn the key on, when it ran you would hear a little whirring noise right as you turned the key to the on position before the starter engaged. A little starting fluid and it will fire, but it wont stay running, so there is spark. The differential is making typical Jaguar XJ noise. it has been doing so for as long as I have had it. I bought it in 2006, and have put the last 50K miles on it. There is a power steerring cooler that is leaking. As you may know, the power sterring system is cooled by the same antifreeze that cools the engine. There is a leak in the system that blows antifreeze into the power steering system. The Power steering system has milky oil in it, but it doesn't seem to be flowing the other way, the coolant is still green. It looks like there is a valve cover gasket leak, so it marks it's spot. The sun-roof slide mechanism is broken, so it will not open. I thought about buying the parts here on Ebay to fix it about 4 years ago, but never did. Speeking of the top, the clear coat on the roof is starting to fade (see pics). The front turn signal lenses are broke, as are the fog light lenses. Inside, in typical Jaguar fashion, there are a lot of switches and knobs that have been unable to endure the passage of time. For example, the drivers seat, steering wheel, and rear view mirror can be set and the position is put in memory. The memory switch is broken. The Harmon Kardon sound system works, but it is 16 years old, and sounds like it is about 16 years old. So if you ask me questions, I will respond. This is a no-reserve auction, so if you bid at all, you may be the proud owner of this baby, so consider your bid carefully. I do prefer PayPal or cash. No checks under any circumstances. The car is for sale "as is" and "where is". There is no warrantee, and the buyer is encouraged to inspect the car before making a binding bid. The buyer will have to pick it up at my residence in Laurel, MD 20707, and will have 7 days to pick it up once the auction ends. There is no delivery.
