Vehicle Detail

This is a very Rare 1960 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron. I was told that there were only ~600-800 of these made. It has the baddest most wonderful tail lights ever! A unique option are the swival front seats that allow for easy egress, I've just had the brakes done...and a entire new exhaust system put in. The car starts right up, purrs like a kitten and is a dream to drive. The A/C works and is cold. The antennea works but the radio comes on and is sometimes scratchy..sometimes not working....It needs a going over. The rear electric windows work, the fronts don't But there's A/C! The driver's electric vent window works great. The lights work...both brake and hi low beams but backups don't. The wipers work...the push burtton transmission works properly and the car changes gears as it should...smoothly. The powerful engine runs very well with plenty of pep. The interior is velour and obviously was changed at some point. The only rust I could find (and I looked thoughly) is in the corners of the trunk floor....an easy fix if you want to. The outside paint needs re-painting biut at twilight a few feet away, it's beautiful. The horn is there but I've never worried with it and it doesn't blare. Probably a wire soemwhere loose. The dash lights are intermitten...sometime all there, sometimes half. The cruise control turns on and makes it easier to press the accelerator petal but it doesn't hold the speed very well. The rear window was replaced with a plexiglass one but guess what?...you can't tell....However, I was able to buy an original rear window on line and it's included and is sitting in the huge back seat. At almost 19 feet, this car is a real living room to enjoy. Looks from everyone on the highway...also, my CPA says if you put a sign on it for your busines, you can write the car off as advertisement sign....100%!!! Check with your CPA on that. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer. If you want to come see the car, call me 865 588 0684. I have a 1960 T-bird and a 1958 Imperial....the woman says two have to go!!! PaulOn Aug-02-11 at 17:11:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I'll get the VIN when I go to work tomorrow......also, sorry but I guessed at the odometer...I drove it tonight and saw where the odometer rolls over as it rolled over to 87,731. I inadvertently got rubber pulling out from the gas station too sorry but the rubber on the tires is still good! I'm driving it to work tomorrow and will take more photos of the interior etc.On Aug-04-11 at 17:59:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Drove the big Imp to play pool with my buddies last night...on the way I was fiddlin' with the radio...it started blaring very clearly a delight to hear...maybe I've always been too impatient with it...wow it fixed itself...I'm going to try and figure out a video tomorrow showing how fast and well the car starts and drives!! Another person verified that there were only 692 LeBaron cars made in 1960On Aug-05-11 at 15:48:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Meant to mention the electric driver's seat...it works perfectly IF YOU WANT TO SEE THREE VIDEOS ON THE CAR GO TO PAULLEDBETTER@COMCAST.NET ON FACEBOOK PAUL LEDBETTEROn Aug-06-11 at 07:31:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I got this nice and informative comment today:Dear daddyledbay, I hope you're aware that this is simply an Imperial LeBaron, not a Chrysler Imperial. Back then, Imperial was the top of the line Chrysler Corporation product. The lineup went: Imperial, Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth. in descending order of price and appointments. The dealerships were Imperial-Chrysler-Plymouth and De Soto(until it ended in 1961)-Dodge. The swivel seats were fairly common. I've seen them on a 1960 Chrysler 300F, and my 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix had them as well. Sorry, just an old Mopar (Chrysler) nut who spent 15+ years professionally restoring cars. If you're having trouble downloading the videos(3)...e-mail me at paulledbetter@comcast.net and I'll send them to you...PaulOn Aug-06-11 at 07:51:06 PDT, seller added the following information: here's the link to the videos...http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=2355098156592&comments#!/video/?id=1224355462 sorry, I'm of the generation that doesn't catch on to these computer methods very well....but I can make change in my head!!! We weren't allowed to carry a computer to school...and we wrote in cursive lolOn Aug-08-11 at 07:36:28 PDT, seller added the following information: To further prove what I'm saying about the 50s and 60s Imperials, Chrysler went unibody on everything BUT the Imperial in 1960. They were their own platform. they shared no unibody or body parts with the Chryslers. To this day, you can't use an Imperial like yours in a demolition derby; the frame is too strong. But trying to talk car classifications with ebay is a waste of time. They will put Avantis made after 1964 in with Studebaker. Studebaker only made the Avanti 1963 and 1964. After Studebaker folded in 1965 or 66, there was a succession of Avantis made with Chevy engines and so on. One of the first companies was Avanti Motor Corporation, and the cars were built on leftover Lark station wagon frames. I think that might have been the company that was in Canada. But if it doesn't have the Studebaker stylized "S" on the roof's C-pillar, it's not a Stude. But that doesn't stop ebay from letting people list them as such.On Aug-08-11 at 07:38:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I keep getting info on this fabulous car: such as: Thank you for sending the vids, Paul. I'm age 53, and my father had a 1960 Imperial LeBaron when I was a child, therefore he was one of the original 692 owners of this remarkable luxury car, one sooooooooo ahead of it's time. I don't know if you know it, but Elvis Presley, Lyndon B. Johnson, Mr Folgers of Folgers Coffee fame, Jackie Onassis, and the Shah of Iran are some of the others who owned 60 LeBarons. You can learn so much about the various model years on the Imperial Club website. On Aug-08-11 at 12:04:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I had an "expert" come by today and told me there were some signs of rust coming through on the lower rear panels with some bondo work done and other what seems cosmetically minor rust spots around the bottom of the doors etc....When you get it painted , all that should be addressed...The rust holes in the trunk (see video) are smaller than I indicated though...a golf ball will NOT go through them, much smaller issue....rear bumper mounts have some rust showing slightly through the chrome too...fronts are near perfect.....things you'd expect on a 50 year old car but just wanted to be fair and post anything I am told or hear about the car.
