Vehicle Detail
I've owned this truck since 2002 and driven it regularly since buying it. I believe I am the third owner. The original 351M and C6 were replaced by a rebuilt 1972 351 Cleveland (casting D2AE CA). The work was done by City Motor Supply in Dallas and it was bored .040 over. A Summit RV cam, Crane valve springs, locks and retainers, Badger flat top pistons and a high volume Melling oil pump were installed at that time. It also has an Edelbrock performer aluminum intake manifold, a Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb, a Holley polished mechanical fuel pump and Mickey Thompson valve covers. The motor has approximately 32,000 miles on it and runs very well. These motors were never installed in US model Ford trucks, but as they share a distributor with the old M motor (so it has electronic ignition...no points) and motor/transmission mounts with 302's, it installs in these trucks with no fabrication/butchery. The transmission came from 1984 Ford van and was rebuilt along with the motor, then blew a front seal this year and was again completely rebuilt by Bright's Transmission in Fort Worth. It has a 12 month/12,000 mi warranty and the truck is fewer than 200 miles and one month into that warranty. It shifts flawlessly. I have the receipt for just under $1,000. During the past year, I have replaced the fuel pump, power steering pump and water pump. During the time I've had the truck, I've also replaced the radiator and third member (now a 3.50:1 ring and pinion) in the 9-inch rear end. Included with the truck is the original grill (minus the headlight buckets and turn signals), which I replaced with a 1973 grill. The Goodyear Wranglers have 80%+ tread remaining. The truck was originally equipped with A/C, but the compressor locked up and I removed it. I'll include the original brackets and the rest of the A/C gear is still in the truck if you care to restore it. It also has a bench seat from a 90's Ford truck, no holes, but it is worn on the driver's side. The door panels are in good shape and firmly attached and I replaced the window seals (but not the windwing seals). The glass is in great shape. The dash pad is cracked as is the steering wheel plastic. There is only an FM radio in the truck. It also has true dual exhaust through turbo mufflers and stock cast iron manifolds. I have a clean title, owner's manual, repair manual, build sheet and receipts for all parts/work done since 2002 that I'll include with the truck. I am selling this truck because I bought a newer one, primarily because I'm getting too old to do without air during the summer in Texas and because my son should probably be in a car with air bags. The one mechanical issue that will have to be resolved is a nagging oil leak around the oil pan. The truck has always leaked some oil, but since the transmission was removed and installed for the rebuild, it has gotten worse. Although you could drive it today, it makes a mess wherever it is parked and has to be checked about every fill-up to keep the motor happy. Other than this, the truck is pretty well sorted-out and still has lots to offer. I want you to be happy with your purchase, please e-mail me with questions if you have them.
