Vehicle Detail
Relisted! Reserved dropped by $1,000! For sale is our beloved Westy (weekender edition). This bus has been a stellar hobby car since we bought it in early 2006, but our family has outgrown it and we're in need of a different, albeit markedly less cool, camping solution. It has a great interior layout, sleeps 4, is very comfortable, and fuel efficient at approximately 22 MPG. I have listed myriad things that have been rebuilt, fixed, replaced since we have owned it, but welcome any additional questions you may have. I believe in full disclosure and have detailed everything that we're aware of that is in need of attention as well. Repair receipts alone total $8,947.53, and that's just the ones I could find--we're easily $10K into restoration at this point so you are looking at a very well maintained vehicle that simply needs a new home. The car has been serviced by CJ Buggs in Fishersville, VA as well as my husband, who is a very accomplished european car enthusiast/backyard mechanic. CJ Buggs is well-known throughout the east coast for their VW expertise, particularly with the older models that VAGUSA doesn't really service any more. I've set an extremely reasonable reserve on this bus because we do want to sell it. It makes camping as simple as: drive to campground. park. pop top. open chair. drink beer. Also please note that this is the weekender edition and does not have the full sink/stove/fridge setup. I didn't want to worry about additional things breaking and much much prefer this model. And it seats 6, whereas the full camper only seats 4. These things have been rebuilt/replaced/repaired since purchasing the Westy in 2006: rebuilt motor—the nice one from Boston Bob at Boston Engine Exchange clutch & clutch slave cylinder gas tank alternator brushes rear brakes rebuilt skylight key-matched door handles new exhaust system parking brake cable horn fuel lines antenna CD player & 4 nice speakers front brake pads door handles various trim repairs new bilstein shocks all around almost new starter battery really awesome things to know: engine has approximately 5K on it. Yes, FIVE THOUSAND.brand new all weather cover included (~$150 from Go Westy!)2.1 liter enginewolfsburg editionall glass is intact11 no chips/stars/cracks whatsoever nonsmoking car cup holders are all intact and all work. this is insanely rare. there is storage galore all seat belts are in working order it's really clean. I'm very type-A. Husband-installed 2 additional 12-volt outlets for charging various items auxiliary battery functional and very handy for keeping those cell phones charged all cabinet latches/table latch/interior lights intact and fully functional. Upholstery is in phenemonal condition All curtains are intact and work great Comes with sliding door window screen lucky rabbit foot keychain included never been in an accident clear title, no liens Bentley manual included Wiring diagrams included things to look out for: small coolant leak—doesn't make it run hot but you might want to check it periodically odometer does not (has never) work. When purchased in 2006 it was reported to have 156K on the body. Needs a set of tires there's some rust on the sliding door side rocker panel and rear right ¼ panel, and a few random yet standard VW bubbles. CJ Buggs has triaged these and told us not to worry, so we haven't. Power steering does not work, but it drives easily, and I'm a creature-comfort loving kind of driver. Pop top canvas has been patched and the front mosquito netting has some small holes in it (see pictures for detail). Does not leak whatsoever. Email me with any questions prior to bidding and I'll gladly answer them. $500 nonrefundable PayPal deposit required within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Remainder due upon pickup in cash. No warranty. Sold 100% AS-IS. $500 PayPal deposit due within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Remainder of balance due in cash upon picking up the car. Please pick up within 10 days of the close of the auction. Buyer responsible for arranging pickup. Sorry, delivery is not available but I will work with you to coordinate details as needed. We live in Northern Shenandoah, 1 mile from the Appalachian Trail. Your next adventure begins here! Please note that the Carfax report we received when we bought it in 2006 did not show any accidents on it (this will be included in the file), so I'm not sure what's going on with that. Also, there are 2 engine photos: the first one from when it was brand new, and the second one is what it looks like now that it's been broken in w/ 5K miles on it and some road dust.
