Vehicle Detail

This car has been sitting in the garage for years awaiting a restoration. I bought it from my uncle a few years ago, but it has just been collecting dust, so I am hoping to find a new steward who can restore and enjoy it. The car is completely intact in every way, however, it hasn't been driven in over 10 years. As the cliche' story goes, it ran when it was parked, and it has been in storage since then. It appears to have some surface rust on the underside, but there is no visible bubbling, no visible holes and no visible rotting anywhere on the car. Other than a few random chips, oxidation and a few spots on the hood, the paint is still in restorable condition, but requires TLC (the paint is not original, but from an older restoration 30+ years ago). From a quick inspection of the wooden structures, there does not appear to be any rot. The chrome on the car shows age with light rusting and pitting in spots, but the bumpers and the rest of the hard-to-find trim pieces appear to be straight and undamaged. All glass is intact as is everything else that you can see from the photos. I have also attached the link to all the pictures I took this past weekend (unfortunately, many of the pictures of the car in the sun didn't come out): http://www.flickr.com/photos/notoboy/sets/72157621351029764/I am certain the engine ran when the car was parked, but I am told that the intake manifold was cracked, however, I never tried to start the car and have never taken it to be inspected by a mechanic - it is all there and all original to the best of my knowledge. I do know that the transmission shifts into all gears, the clutch works, the brakes work and the engine turns over. The odometer reads 46,730 miles, but I cannot vouch for miles that were put on the car prior to 30 years ago, however, the tell tale signs of high miles on the body, chassis and pedals are not evident at all. I do know the last 30 years of history on this car, but that is all I can tell. This car is not in mint-condition and shows age, but the pictures tell much of the story. This car is sold as-is, but if you are seriously considering it, you know what it is and what to expect. The description above and the pictures are the best representation of the car that I can give, I am happy to answer any questions, and I can show the car by appointment. My cell number is 516-521-nine-four-eight-oh. Please bid only if you are serious and have the funds in hand. I request $1,000 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of the auction end time. I cannot ship the car for you, but I would be happy to assist with the arrangements. On Jul-28-11 at 12:34:30 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: There has been a lot of interest on this car over the past week, so I wanted to update the description with more information: Title: There is no title in NY for cars that are over a certain age, but I do have the transferable registration card. I transferred ownership of the car 3 years ago using my uncle's transferable registration card, so I am positive that there are no issues. Location of Vehicle: The car is located in a private garage in Pelham, NY, and not in New York City. Serial Number on Engine: Apologies to those I promised this to, but unfortunately, work has been very busy this week and I have not had the chance to go up to the garage and get or take pictures of the serial number on the engine. I intended to do this, but I did not have time. Paint: The vehicle was restored at some point in its life prior to the early 1980s, because I am certain that the original color was not orange and brown. The paint is currently oxidized, has several small chips (as can be seen in the pictures) and the top of the engine cover will most likely need to be repainted, however, after working on paint for many years, I would bet whatever you like that a good wet sanding and/or polishing would bring the rest of the paint to a high luster. Interior: The leather interior is not original and I would say it is in fair-to-good condition, but there are several buttons missing on the front bottom seat cushion, and there are several small tears: one at the top edge of the driver's seat and at the bottom of the driver and passenger front seat cushion near the carpet. The front carpet is in poor condition, but the back carpet is in fair condition. Interior Blinds: I was not able to locate the blinds for the rear and rear-right windows, but one of them is there and is in good condition to use as a template. Windshield Wipers: The driver's side windshield wiper is on the vehicle, but the passenger's side is not. Sun Visors: The passenger's side visor is on the car, and the driver's side visor is not. Ignition: It appears that there is a non-original key ignition mounted under the dash, but I have never researched the electrics of the car to ascertain the reason for this and/or if the original switch gear works and/or why this modification was made. I have no history on this modification. I have tried to provide all of the information that I have discussed with the people who have shown interest in this car over the past week, and hope I have been as transparent as I could with regard to the condition of the car. If you have any other questions, please ask. Regards, David
