Vehicle Detail
Its my 1977 GL1000--its not a restoration, its a well-preserved ORIGINAL, in excellent condition. I have entered it in a couple of shows and I get lots of compliments/approval. I get kudos for driving it to the show. I use it for short trips, local errands, and it is a blast from the past to have an elderly bike that looks this good. It starts easily, runs with good performance--its the fastest GL1000 I have driven--it may out-drag some much newer 1000's although I am no racer. When I got the bike a few years ago it had a custom 'double bucket' seat on it--I eventually found a NOS seat--its old but looks new, even the foam is fresh and pliable--the seat looks and feels NEW. It has newer tires, (less than 1000 miles), but everything else is original, in great shape. That's original paint, folks--it shines great, not faded. If you look close you can find small flaws, but everyone is amazed at the nice paint/chrome. Muffler is near perfect, wheels are true, spokes have no rust/corrosion, they look better than any other GL1000 I've seen except the high-dollar restorations. The chrome is near perfect, with no pits except tiny flaws in the l-side muffler trim. Otherwise all chrome is close to flawless. Those are original bars and mirrors,--you're looking at a bike that is remarkably near perfection. Carbs have had the full Randakk treatment--I bought the full carb kit with the CD and went through the carbs myself and you'll see it idles perfectly and makes all its power. I have a 'reserve' on it, but you'll find it's not too high. Questions?-- just ask.
