Vehicle Detail
1967 Mustang Coupe, 289, Auto, Air. This car is a super nice original car. I have owned a number of old Mustangs over the years and this one is the most original, solid car I have owned. The paint is the original Acapulco Blue color. The paint is in very nice condition with only a few minor touched up chips on the passenger door. The paint does not even have the small rock chips you usually see on a car that is driven a lot. This car has all of it's original sheet metal and the only rust in the entire car is the one small area with bubbles on the lower front passenger door. ( see picture) The body panels are the original panels. They have the original Ford stampings on them that you don't see on reproduction or even Ford replacement panels. I can find no evidence that the quarter panels have ever been touched. The clips that hold the taillight harness in place are all still there on the quarter panel and tail panel. I have not found this on aftermarket panels. The only metal work done on this car is the short front floor pans have been replaced at some point. ( Done professionally) Finally, the fit of the panels on this car are as perfect as it gets on an old Mustang. The doors open and shut easily and very tight as only the original doors will. When I bought this car, I thought all the exterior trim had been replaced when the car was painted. However, when detailing the car, I found that the trim is not new, it is just in excellent condition. The trim is either original, or replaced when you could still find new Ford parts. Even the wheel covers are original, and have no scratches or dings on them. The glass in this car is original Ford except for the windshield. All of the glass is in excellent condition. It is very clear, not scratched or cloudy. The windows roll up and down very tight and easily in this car. When I replaced the door panels, I noticed the window mechanisms looked new, however, they have Ford part numbers on them, so I assume they are original. The car has all new weatherstripping on it, including roofrail, door, window felts and rubber, trunk, back of hood, even the vent windows have new rubber. As you can see in the pictures, the trunk is nicely detailed. The interior is the original two tone blue that came in the car and is all new except for the steering wheel and dash pad. The seat covers and headliner were new when I purchased the car. I replaced the carpet, door panels, kick panels, and sill plates. I also stripped the inside of the doors and rear quarter trim and repainted them while I had the interior out of the car.The steering wheel is original and has no cracks in it. The engine is also the original engine. The engine block casting date is 7C9, which is March 9th, 1967, about three weeks before the car was assembled. Also, the engine bay in this car is very clean. This car runs and drives exceptionally well. The engine has been rebuilt and does not smoke, leak or use oil. The front end has been rebuilt and the car drives down the road straight. The body of the car is very tight and does not rattle going down the road. In addition to the interior work, I also replaced the starter, had the carb. rebuilt, and had the air-conditioner serviced. Everthing on the car works as it should except the radio. The car has the original Ford AM radio in it but it does not work. All the lights on the car works including the interior light and shifter light. The wipers, horn, even the windshield washer works perfect. The air-conditioner works fine and holds a charge very well. This is an original A/C car and has the higher capacity cooling system on it. The car runs cool with the A/C on even the the Texas heat.(100+) Also, the A/C compressor appears to be original to the car. It still has the Ford tag on it with the part number beginning with C7. If you are looking for a beautiful, dependable, Mustang that you can truly drive anywhere, this is the car. I encourage you the come see and drive this car before you bid, you will be impressed. This is as nice an example of an original Mustang as you will find. If you have questions, don't hesitate to email, or if you prefer, call 940-231-0833. I can send more pictures of the car if you are interested in it and want to see something particular. I have a clear Texas title in my name. I am setting the reserve at a very reasonable price for the condition of this car, so please, do not bid unless you intend to buy the car, and have the funds available to pay for it. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have the car for sale locally. I will only end the auction early if I sell it for the buy it now price.
