Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is my 1998 XR650l I bought the bike 3 years ago in very clean stock shape from an older owner (I am 42) with 1800 miles on it. And set out to make it run and work better on and off road. Suspension- I am 5'11 & stock it sat a little tall for me (caused me to drop it & dent the stock tank) so I lowered it 1 1/2 in the back with a lowering link & slid forks up in the tripple clamps about an inch. This gave it a far better seat height & made the center of gravity a little lower & It felt like the bike lost 30 lbs. Carburation/exhaust - Then I set on fixing the stock lean condition & I modified the carb with Dave's Mods & a 58 slow & 160 main Jet then added a Supertrap exhaust & a K&N filter. This made the bike run cooler & thottle responce has much more of a snap to it & now It will start & run perfect with little or no choke even in 20 degree weather. Gearing - I have tried everything from stock 15/44 to 13/47 I have settled in at 15/47 as a great all around gear. It lugs down a little slower in 1st without using the clutch & still will run 80mph all day long. Other mods Currently has a 4.5 gal aftermarket tank on it but will come with the 2003 red tank & the stock white tank Handlebars are tag CR high bend with a 1 1/2 riser Please note I am going to remove the barkbusters to install them on my new bike. Tires are knobbie's & I have a rim lock in the back Not the best street setup but the stock Tires in almost new shape are included. Aftermarket tail light looks way cleaner then the stock TV set on the back of the bike Newer red front fender What the bike needs. Left mirror has a crack in the glass (but nothing missing) Valve cover gasket has a slight (very slight) leak you will never see a drip but somtimes you smell it. (but have a new OEM Honda gasket I just did not instll it yet) Extra's with the bike 2 stock gas tanks (2003 & 1998) the RED 2003 has the shrouds stock exhaust Stock Jets Overall the bike runs great but has dirt & some scratched in the plastics but this bike is a dual sport and was used as one. I just took it on a trip down to WV and the Hatfiield MCCoy trails & the bike tan like a top never an issue never had to turn a wrench on the bike the entire 3 days of trail riding. But I got to ride a Husqvarna on a demo ride & they sucked me in on the Euro bike & I just put a deposit down on a Husquvarna TE450 so I dont need two dual sports. Also as a side note the bike has a pretty good charging system over the winter I rode this bike pretty often with my Gerbings heated jacket & gloves & it ran my heated gear fine. No reserve On Jul-09-11 at 09:23:02 PDT, seller added the following information: I am going to try & answer all the questions I have been getting. I can deliver the bike within about 25 miles of my house (as long as I dont have to ride into a city as my trailer is wide) I also can deliver to a shipper but have no insight on how or how much it is to ship a bike. The title is in my name it is my bike & is registered & insured & on the road % of off road riding done I will say 15% of the miles since I got it so I put 2600 miles on it so 400 or so miles are off road not motorcross or anyting just fire roads Runs great looks very nice the Red Honda tank looks very good (other then the small dent) has no scatches or dings or rust in or out Whote tank is also rust free I have the aftermarket on it as the 2.nothing galon stock tanks gave almost no range although they do look much better. Do I have a buy it no in my head Yes send me an offer it cant hurt. I will post a video later today On Jul-09-11 at 13:07:35 PDT, seller added the following information: here is a link to a quick video of the bike http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q168/bsiverson/XR650L/?action=view¤t=002.mp4 and here is the bike on a quick ride http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q168/bsiverson/XR650L/?action=view¤t=002.mp4 On Jul-09-11 at 13:12:06 PDT, seller added the following information: opps here it is on a quick ride http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q168/bsiverson/XR650L/?action=view¤t=004.mp4
