Vehicle Detail

Antique Chevrolet touring car project. Just rescued from Idaho. I am not sure of model year but I am assuming that it is somewhere between 1914 to approx. 1917. The car has the original engine block, pistons, connecting rods and crankshaft still in it, but there are no other engine parts. The car has a complete ELECTRIC STARTER including the SOLENOID still on the dash. The transmission is complete and still in place as well as the original clutch setup. Half of the rear axle assembly is included but not attached to the car. The dash is wood and there is enough there to use a a pattern for a new replacement. The parts of the wooden toe board are there also. There are many, many pieces of the top bows and top assembly including the mountings for the rear body tub. The radiator shell is intact with a piece broken off the bottom but I still have the broken piece. The car has elliptical front springs and three quarter elliptical rear springs. The body parts include the cowl, rear body tub, door skins, center posts, both front and rear fenders and many misc. parts and wooden pieces that could be used for patterns and have many of the latches and brackets included. I have no serial number or VIN info that was found on the car. I do have listed in another auction, a wooden piece and Chevrolet Capitol VIN plate that I have had on the shelf for many years. It is not from this car. There is NO TITLE for this car. It will be sold with Bill Of Sale only. This project is sitting on a wooden rack on a hay wagon neither of which are included in the auction. I have a loader tractor available and can help with loading for the buyer. I can also quote hauling the project with my car trailer if contacted prior to auction close. Please email or call Allan 262-844-1557 with any additional questions. Thanks 7/11/2011 UPDATE: Thanks to the great Chevrolet experts who have helped to better identify this car. I have found additional casting numbers on the engine block as follows: 4......1915, then on the next line .....P.....then on the next line ......402.....2... Knowlegeable people that have contacted me tell me that this shows a 1915 engine production date. I have also found the production/VIN number for the vehicle on the left front engine crossmember . It is stamped..... 13539......This would show it to be approx a June 1915 production number which identifies it as a very, very late 1915 model year or more likely a very, very early 1916 model year. It has also been confirmed that this is a "Model H" Chevrolet, also referred to as a "Baby Grand" The casting numbers on the block and stamping numbers on the chassis/engine crossmember would identify this Chevrolet as one of the OLDEST 90-100 Chevrolets know to exist. Sure hope someone can purchase this project and preserve the history of this significant Chevrolet. 7/11/2011 UPDATE : Several people have mentioned that they do not see any front axle under this car. There is in fact a front axle and both front springs under this car. One spindle is there and the other is missing. The tie rod linkage is also there as well as the steering arm that extends from the steering gearbox to the front axle.
