Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a meticulously preserved 1959 BMW Isetta 600 Executive Limousine. Thank you for taking a minute to examine this auction. So confident in this BMW Isetta 600 Execuitive Limousine Micro-Car that I am listing it without reserve! This matching numbers Isetta is truly that exceptional. If you are reading this posting then you surely are aware of the Isetta 600 and all of its historical value, remarkable characteristics and ultimate rarity. If you have stumbled on this auction please know there is a nice bit of research, and quite a following, regarding these micro-cars. Please take a few minutes and research how special, unique and collectible these Isetta 600 Limos truly have become. This particular Isetta 600 is unique for a number of reasons, most specifically because it is (and hopefully will remain) a purely preserved micro-car and has not gone through a restoration process. Every bit of this Isetta has been kept preserved in its original factory condition, including the factory installed and optional sunroof. For those of you familiar with Isettas, you’ll undoubtedly know how special those two attributes are in discovering a car of this nature. The chrome, from head to toe, is original and has a few minor blisters as proof. The aluminum trim around the Isetta is in unmolested condition and shows very well. The OG German enamel paint is in remarkable condition for its age with only a few rub marks near the side door, a small series of scrapes near the rear wheel well and minor bubbling (not rust!) near the front wheels. Stunning to have the OG paint in such condition that shines brilliantly. All rubber seals are strong and not cracked. Complete set of glass, all factory installed, is in fantastic condition with out and chips or cracks. There are a few minor scratches in the glass but nothing that detracts at all. The sunroof frame is as stellar as the day it was born, the rails operate flawlessly and the new cover has perfect stitching and vinyl. There is one small area of staining around the size of a quarter near the rear, driver’s side of the vinyl top. Nothing significant, just present. Engine is completely stock and has matching numbers with the chassis. Please note the rare, glass sediment bulb. Amazing! Is in running condition and powerful enough to get around just fine. You aren’t going to set any land speed records in the Isetta 600 but it will get you where you need to go. The clutch is good, as is the transmission. There is a bit of play in the shifter knob, something to get accustomed to on the road. Two manuals are included covering everything you may need to look into. I have had the entire brake system replaced by our regional BMW/Rover expert gurus (Thanks Rob & Tedd!) which included rebuilt calipers on all four drums, rebuilt MC (Thanks –THANKS- Isetta Doc!), new lines, brake fluid, etc. etc. etc. New matching tires on all four origional wheels. Original hub caps all the way around! Have spare tire but not wheel for the spare. Has spare tire cover although in need of attention (please see pic). Comes with original jack. Only surface rust was on the undercarriage, which has been addressed, please see pics. Everything truly is in exceptional condition. The seats have been recovered nicely but they retain all the OG springs, pads, et al. Would have liked to have redone the seat covers simply for aesthetics but they still look and function great. Also thought of having a headliner installed but that is now up to the new owner to decide. Three of the four BMW emblems are origional, sadly I lost the front emblem some time ago. Thankfully, it has been replaced and really looks great. The pics speak volumes. It is widely accepted there are only +/- 12 Isetta 600 Limos remaining in North America, and less than three known to have the factory installed sun roof. Truly a show stopper and sought after collectible. What ever your motivation may be; show micro-car, collectible investment, Sunday driver, parade car, advertising or simply for fun this Isetta would be a perfect fit. If you are the fortunate winner, please be cool and honor your winning bid. You’ll be glad you out bid everyone else. $1,000 deposit due 24 hours after auction close, the remaining balance by cashier’s check once the transaction is completed. In addition to the matching numbers vehicle itself, you’ll receive the clean title and a number of extra bits-and-bots that are included with the Isetta 600. You’ll even get the rear reflectors that only need to be glued and installed. Loads of smiles and thumbs up as you drive down the road. Well worth every bit! On Jun-29-11 at 09:04:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Information added at 9:00PDT, June 29th 2011; Whooo-Hoo, have I ever been corrected regarding some of the numbers quoted in my auction post. The gentleman who corrected me was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about the BMW badge, Isetta 600 specifically. I wanted to include his information so everything is correct. If I receive any additional corrections, I'll be sure to post those as well. There are about 150 Isetta 600 Limos in the U.S. presently with approximately 35 on the road. There may be 10-12 of those remaining in total that are surviving sunroof models. Either way, these are rare indeed. I've also rcvd a few questions asking for the buy-it-now price, if any. There is not a buy-it-now price. One of the great aspects to eBay is its near perfect elasticity when it comes to valuations. I'm allowing the market to determine what this '59 Isetta 600 Limo is worth. Either way, it remains my motivation that another responsible person will take care of this micro-car for years to come. As most of us have discovered, cool ain't cheap! The values for this particular year and model, in this condition, seems to be vary between $35K and $70K. That is for the non-sunroof model to boot! Please check out some of the other areas where cars like this are being sold. I've consciously not listed this '59 Isetta 600 Limo anywhere other than eBay. Happy bidding and Bonne chance!
