HISTORY AND MAINTENANCE: If you are looking at this GS then no need to talk about the attributes of this machine so I will get to the important stuff: History: I bought this bike from the original owner in Maryland on 10 Dec 2010. He bought it brand new at Bob’s BMW in May 2007. It has never been down and always garaged. I bought it and rode it back to Colorado--yes it was cold in December but with heated grips and plug-ins for my heated pants and vest-no worries. Why am I selling? I bought this for one reason--I wanted to ride to Alaska this summer and go to Prudhoe Bay. I wanted the best possible mount and the GSA, to me, is just that. I have two bulging discs and an impinged S1 nerve root, and I just can't put the miles in needed to do the trip. Thought I could do it but my back is just too far-gone. This condition will not be going away anytime soon (if ever without surgery) so selling it now. I will say this is the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden-- it soaks up bumps like nothing else. It also handles better than any other bike I've ridden--it gives you confidence to push on those wide bars and just lean in! Condition: This bike has 8,230 miles and has very little wear and tear associated with a bike that has been ridden. It is in exceptional condition and has always been garage kept, and I don’t think it has ever been off road. Runs perfect. The only things to mention that deviate from what I would call a “10” include: There is a small scratch on the left side, bottom of cylinder head guard--see picture. The side cases have some marks on them--normal for an aluminum case and are really only light surface scuffs. No dings or dents for sure. There is a small rock chip (a little fish eye) on the very top of the headlight lens. I could not get a picture of it, but it is not a crack or open in any way, so there is no performance or moisture issue at all. The front tire has some significant cupping and should be replaced soon. I've owned many BMW's and this is not unusual. Saw similar wear on my 1100 R, 1150 RT and 1200 RT, but I think the original owner did not keep up with the tire pressures on this tire. Rear tire is newer but not sure of the mileage on it—it is good for a long time to come. For the buy it now price, I will have a new front tire put on. I have not done an annual service on the bike and know one is due. I prefer to do most service myself but over to you in this case. I had Morton’s BMW in Virginia look it over just after I bought it and there were no issues and all recalls completed minus one for a bolt that goes through the fuel tank to frame mount. I have not taken it to the dealer for this fix but it is a free fix. I did change the oil as soon as I got back to Colorado with Royal Purple full synthetic-- best oil I've found and reduces operating temperatures. I also changed the air filter at that time. I would get on this bike right now and ride it anywhere (if my back would let me). OTHER: The bike is in Colorado Springs, CO. Bank does hold the title, and I will overnight to seller once funds are received and released by bank. No trades. Shipping is responsibility of the buyer. I will help with pick up but all legwork and costs is on purchaser. I highly encourage you to come pick it up--lots of good riding here and perfect time to be in the mountains. Mark riding the Rockies off your bucket list! I will pick you up at the airport. Check my feedback! I take this seriously and expect the same. I have sold several other bikes on E-Bay—my 1200RT and my FJR1300. Feedback from those sales was as follows: RT: “Absolutely Super Seller Even filled the tank! Description was perfect!” FJR: “Exactly as described, very accommodating seller, would do business with again.” Do not bid if you can’t pay. If you have negative or zero feedback then you must contact me first or I will cancel your bid/offer. Buyer to pay shipping for all extras (seat, tires, exhaust) but I will pack and take to the post office for you. If you have questions please send me an e-mail through E-Bay.
