Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI Turbo Wagon 4D w/139K VIN #: WVWSP61J12W330793 Up for sale a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI, wagon, 1.9L, with automatic transmission, 140,000 miles and gold in color. I am selling this car to purchase a newer model. Averages 35 to 45 miles per gallon - 3 fill-ups when driving from Springdale, AR to Philadelphia, PA. Average around town driving 1 fill-up every 3 weeks as opposed to once a week with my Jeep. It has been a great car. It handles and stops well with good pick up when needed. The automatic transmission has been a good choice for the mountainous terrain where I reside. The heated seats are blessing in the winter, and the sun roof a pleasure. I am the second owner, an eBay purchase from NC with 100K. Since I have owned the car it has spent 2 winters in NY and 2 in AR. It has had some maintenance performed at the dealer and some at independent shops. The oil has been regularly changed with Mobile 1 Synthetic oil as recommended. Copies of important maintenance receipts will come with the car. The following are some of the maintenance performed. At 90,000 the transmission was replaced. The timing chain was changed at 95K, and the turbo was changed at 99K. I was surprised that these repairs had to be done to one with such few miles all having taken place before I purchased the car. While in my care, at 107K, the torque converter was replaced along with the circuit plate and the valve body assembly. At the time the car engine sounded as if it were under a load when stopped and in gear. It was explained to me that the torque converter (an interface between the engine and the transmission) was not releasing properly. After replacing it now works fine with one personality quirk. When freshly started and taking off uphill the accelerator must be only pressed lightly or the torque converter will hesitate before engaging. In July of 2010 the front tires were replaced and the front end aligned. The EGR valve and serpentine belt were replaced during winter 2011. May 2011 the glow plugs were replaced and in June 2011 the air conditioner compressor was replaced. I have also had the windshield replaced due to a highway chip. The car has never been in any fender bender. A further note on Diesel engines. They like to be warmed up a few minutes before being driven and after some days of just in town driving need to be driven on the freeway. This car is a great starter even in the coldest of weather. The car body has some small dings and dents as seen in the photographs - on top of the two front quarter panels, hood, and roof. There are scratches on the rear bumper. The dents had already happened before I purchased the car. The front drivers quarter panel has a paint spot ready to peel above the tire. That seems to be the spot that shows first on these cars. As mentioned the front tires were new 1 year ago and all 4 look have the same wear with about 1/4" of tread. The rear windshield wiper motor does not work as explained by a dealer. A plastic VW decal is missing from a center of one of the aluminum mag wheels. Like most 02 Jetta wagons - The rubber radio antenna boot is cracking, the headlight lenses are frosted, and the paint on the rear of the car has lost its shine from its exhaust. I have changed the rear taillights for new shiny ones and had the windows tinted. The interior is in good condition. The leather seats show some signs of wear. The seat heaters, window controls, sun roof, stereo, cruise control, heater, and air conditioner all work. As mentioned the AC compressor is new! The Jetta floor-mats are recent upgrades. Two of the small control knobs are missing from the car stereo. The rear retractable cargo cover is missing as well as the rear seat headrests. There is one small puncture in a rear passenger seat. Spare tire is in place along with the owners manual. A recent dealer inspection check sheet came back "checked and OK" over all categories over the whole car.
