Vehicle Detail
1975 Honda Goldwing 1000 Introduced in 1975, the Honda GL 1000 was a stunning technical achievement. The original, unfaired GoldWing was the world's biggest, heaviest and second fastest bike available at the time (only the mighty Kawasaki Z1 was swifter). Novel features included a liquid-cooled flat four engine, belt-driven overhead cams, shaft drive, triple disk brakes, under-seat fuel tank, counter-rotating alternator, two oil pumps, "floating" piston pins, faux top shelter "tank" and detachable back-up kick-start arm to mention a few. Honda used the GL1000 to showcase its considerable engineering prowess and put other motorcycle marques on notice that it was a force to be reckoned with. For the first time ever, there was heavy collaboration between Honda's motorcycle and automotive engineering teams on the '75 GL1000. This bike was a masterpiece of engineering. Everything about the bike was revolutionary. The Goldwing was conceived in America and to this day is only built here in the USA. The first year Honda produced this bike it did not have any of the touring accessories and was considered a sport bike but afterwards it was such a comfortable bike to ride that it became an iconic touring bike. The bike that you see before you was stored for many years. Starts hot or cold, transmission, clutch and brakes all work fine. However, the carbs need cleaning and the bike runs somewhat rough. As you can see the cosmetics on the bike are all original and the bike has NOT been cleaned up, the cosmetics still show up very well. The tank is essentially dent free and the fenders are essentially dent free. This would be a fantastic bike to ride everyday as it is or to spruce up as a show bike. This bike came in several colors but we certainly prefer the red color over all the others. The bike is essentially unmodified and even has its original muffler system. This is a bike that you can ride and watch the price increase as the years go on as compared to a new bike that depreciates every year. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX There is no warranty implied or otherwise. Motorcycle is sold as is, where is and shown. PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING! Any questions need to be asked BEFORE bidding by calling 847-774-4857.
