1968 International Harvester Scout that my Father bought new and I bought it from him in January of 1987 with 2 feet of snow already on the ground. It had 77,700 miles on it then and 88,161 now. The body is terrible ! From the pictures you can see that he had repaired places with aluminum way back. The gas tanks finally rusted out and I removed the left one, repaired it and put in a sealer sometime before 1994 probably about 1992, but never put the tank back in. It never had too much use from me except in the snow so I just used a motor boat gas tank (2 gallon I think) for the rest of the time I used it. It's been parked beside my work shop since 1993 used for storage of various items and for a mouse house. The running gear was always OK, the lock in front hubs were a Christmas present from us probably the year he bought it. The only problems with the running gear was that it broke 2 rocker arms and the dippedy-doo danged carburetor. You'd pull out from a stop sign into traffic and the thing would die if you weren't careful. I got tired of this and changed to a Motorcraft carburetor, but can't remember the results. It's still on the Scout but I have the original Holly carburetor and air filter. I also just found some of the mouse eaten maintenance records and the clutch was replaced in October of 1975 and the flywheel resurfaced. Total bill was $131.05, which included the $48.20 in labor. What would that cost today ??? I also have the original rear seat, which saw very little use and the rear seat belts. The only other thing I never could understand was the heater or maybe more accurately, why the motor would not heat up in cold weather. New thermostats didn't do a thing, I welded washers in the by-pass until I got to 1/4" I think it was and that didn't help either. A Coors Light carton in front of the radiator helped a little until spring and then the SOB would heat if you didn't remember to pull it out. It was terrific in the snow though and I never got stuck although I did run out of gas once. After sitting since 1993, I poured gas in the carburetor and it fired right up, however it wouldn't keep running so I removed and cleaned the carburetor. It will run with a auxillary gas tank rig hanging from the hood, but still not right. The motor is very quiet with no unusual noises, but the water pump leaked the anti-freeze out that was in it and also the new I put in. From some of the other maintenance records, it must have been pretty hard on points. The original bill of sale from Bosserman Truck & Car Sales in Waynesboro along with the original "Line Setting Ticket and Service Unit Record" as well as all the other records and State Inspections are included for what they're worth. The original owners manual is there....well, what the mice didn't eat is there & included. Gas pedal fell out when I was trying to start it, but is in good shape and included.....just nothing to bolt it back to. I guess I'd better mention that the brakes no longer work either. The emergency brake does work...called hand brakes by the later generations. If someone wanted the running gear to install some type body or make a big project out of it, the running gear was perfect when it was parked and worked well driven from the rear of my shop with the hood up so the carb would get gas to the front of my shop where the pictures were taken. It was used mostly by my Dad for hunting and as you can see it has the accessory bumper with a trailer hitch and the electrical hook-up along with the additional electric operated brake for a travel trailer. He'd pull the trailer from Waynesboro to Bath County where he was a member of the "Rattlesnake Ridge Hunt Club". I also had installed "Cruise control" on it long before it was ever made for a straight drive vehicle. Seemed sort of simple to me as I connected the de-energizer part to the clutch just as it was connected to the brake. You touched either and it disconnected. I can assure you that it needs attention now as all of the rubber connectors to vacuum lines are rotted. IOn Jun-19-11 at 14:01:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added pictures of everything except the rear seat belts, but they're included The original manually operated choke Holley carburetor, the oil bath air filter with the lines removed for installation of the Motorcraft one, the accellerator pedal (which broke out of the rusted floor) and the rear seat. The foam in the bottom cushion has shurnk ! You'll notice the saggy look and while the foam is still soft, it has shurnk at least 4 inches horizontally and maybe 2 inches or so vertically. The back part looks OK. It was stored in an old house and apparently the hot/cold must have gotten to it. Ask any questions you need answers to. Thanks
