Vehicle Detail

Ok, here is the scoop on my FATHERS truck that I have been storing in my garage for the last several years. I bought a new-used boat so I need to get rid of this truck since my wife does not want it around since it is old. So I got in a few days ago and pump the gas pedal about 11 times and it started right up. I figure it would since the engine is original and it only has 92,000 plus miles which are mostly highway. That last time I drove this truck, I drove it from Wisconsin to MA to pick up my mom and drove it back to WI. Then we drove it to Spokane WA to visit my sister and then drove back to my mothers house....close to 7,000 miles on that trip. Anyways back to why I am listing it now.... After starting the truck I drove it down to the garage because I knew the brakes were getting bad since it felt like manual brakes instead of power brakes. I dropped it off at the garage and told them to check it out when they had time since it was sitting there that long I was in no rush. Well yesterday I stopped by and they told me that not only do the brakes need replacement but also the brake line need replacement and that it was going to cost almost a thousand dollars with labor but they could do it. I told them that I do not use the truck and the only reason I kept it was that it was my last item that my father gave me before he passed away. I was going to get the brakes fixed and sell it to some farmer locally. Looking at the cost I asked him what should I do and he said bring it to altec recycling. Well I really was not prepared for that since I had the spare in the back, as well as the stereo and other stuff that was still in it from my fathers time. But I drove there to find out how much they would give me. They said they would give me $380.00 scrap value. Meanwhile a few guys started coming over to the truck and I told them the story. Even one the workers there told me to turn around and get it out of here before they take it. I didn't realized what he was talking about until a pick claw came down and smashed the car in front of mine. It freak me out and I got out of there. One of the guys took my number and was going to have his friend call me. The other guy told me to sell it on eBay since the engine works so good as well as some other parts they said was worth some money. So....here I am selling it whole but you could part it out if you like. So this is what I am selling... A great orginal engine that idles really nice and starts up everytime with no problems. The garage said the transmission and engine should be worth at least $500. The bad stuff....there is rust on the body and it looks old because of it. The brakes are shot as well as the brake lines. If you are a DIY kind of guy, you could save some money. The emergency brake nevered worked. There is some cracks and holes in the top dash from the sun and I noticed the left door handle knob need to be reglued I think. Also the left triangle window knob does not work. I never opened anyways. I am hoping to sell it to someone who needs and engine and will send me a picture of his vehicle after it is done so my fathers truck can live on.... I believe in the engine so much that all I request is $10.00 by paypal and you can pay the rest after we go for a test drive and decided if it is what you need. I am starting it at $450 with no reserve since the ebay fee will be $60 + the scrap value of $380...good luck. Not sure what the title or vin number say since the truck is old but my father owned it for the first 7000 miles in MA and he gave it to me. I drove it back and forth to WI to visit my current wife. It has never been in any type of accident. It has gone across country a few time as well as upper New York in oswego for salmon fishing. I am adding that this truck is not road worthy with no brakes and is being sold for parts.
