Vehicle Detail
1979 AMC Pacer Limited V-8 wagon. Built by AMX Enterprises, Ltd/Larry Mitchell. More info to be added in the next few days. This car was purchased from the original owner in Denton, Texas about 10 years ago. This is a rare and desirable SALTFREE car that had only minor rust behind the rear wheels which was repaired with new metal. Floors are in excellent, unrusted condition and the whole car lacks the corrosion caused by salt that upper Mid-west and East coast cars have everywhere. The car was a one-year-only Pacer with the Limited Package and a 304 2v V-8. It had ps, pdb, tilt, tint, am-fm, power windows and locks, delay wipes, light group, vis group and full leather interior. This makes it a very optioned-out Pacer and a far more luxurious car than the 1975 thru 1978 Pacers. It also has the optional shift on the floor (OEM) making it far more "cool" as a 401 car over a "granny" shift on the column. Now I have loved AMC cars in general all my life. My first love was the 2-seat AMX--and it still is. Next I love the Javelins, Ambassadors, Gremmies and all the rest. But having my 2 AMXs became (AMC NORMAL) year after year. In the 1990s, I longed for something AMC that was DIFFERENT than "just another AMX of a different color" rolling onto a showfield. I wanted something so UNIQUE that driving it on the street, would turn heads and get people talking about "wow! I haven't seen one of those for years!" And building this Pacer Limited wagon with toys with a mild 401 and a Torqueflyte became my goal. I did it and this car has gotten FAR more raves, stares, thumb's up and slobbering than any AMX or Javelin I have ever owned. It commands attention everywhere it goes. And maybe this is something you would like to have fun with because I'm headed for 70, retired in a little town in South Central Utah and though I thought I would be the hot car here, my neighbor has a 2010 Caddy CTS-V with headers. I drove it recently and it idles smooth as silk with the air on at 650rpm and with a paddle-shifted 6-speed auto and a 6,200 rpm redline with 600 horsepower at the crank, I don't stand a chance at being the fastest gun in town. It is capable of low 11-seconds 1/4 mile runs and tops out at 190 mph. I am depressed! So, you can have my Pacer I built lovingly with my own two hands as I am giving up showing, racing and driving the car(s) I have loved for 45 years. There comes a time, my friends. Plus, one of my granddaughters wants the car when she turns 16 and though I love her dearly, she is bound to wreck it and the car will be gone from existence. I want someone else to have the car and my granddaughter to not get hurt in a car she should not have. I have a LOT more details about this car available, but it is too much to put here. Email me thru ebay here with a question and I can send it to you.
