Vehicle Detail
This is a project vehicle I purchased 7 years ago and stored in my barn since then. I have a chilton's manual and have 10 rims and old tires to go along with it. I built a front mount for the plow and future winch. I filled the tank up with gasoline when I first got it and it had no leaks. The gas was pre-ethanol then. I had it running enough to drive it out this spring. I used an old battery(not included). It needs a new alternator because the battery will drain overnight. I just haven't got the time to fool with this at all. I noticed the sill plates are showing little holes and the floor is most likely bad, but if someone wanted to change it out they could drive it again. I have synthetic oil in the rears and no leaks when I parked it years ago. I would consider this a great parts rig for someone looking for running gear components. I am sure that it could be redone if someone with more time than me wanted to tackle it. It is a fun thing to drive and turns really sharp. I do have a plow that came with it, but it is the old one where you need to get out and angle it with a pin to hold it in place. I am not sure if it is a 304 or a 345 engine, but it has a 2bbl carb so I would guess it is a 304ci. I have a stiff hitch on the front and will help someone load it onto a trailer if need be. I have a second rear hatch window because the one on it has a little ding in it. Happy bidding.....Good luckOn Jun-11-11 at 14:43:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I totally forgot that I had told someone about the scout last month. He happened to stop today. If he still wants it I must stand by my word and sell it locally. If he doesn't want it then it is still up for auction. I should know by the afternoon this Sunday. I may end the auction early if he pays for the scout. Sorry for the inconvienience ahead of time, but I just wanted to mention it just in case.On Jun-12-11 at 09:53:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I moved it this morning and it has one tire that goes flat. I put air in it and noticed that someone had used fiberglass to cover up a part of the rear panel just ahead of the rear tire on the driver's side. I am sure the tire will stay up for a few days in order to transport. I couldn't hear a leak anywhere. I am going to put an old battery and the charger on it to fire it up today. On Jun-12-11 at 10:53:18 PDT, seller added the following information: WOW this thing is fun!!! I put a battery in it with the charger on for 20 minutes and it started right up! I removed the battery and it still ran so I took it up back and tried out the 4wd. This thing will go anywhere I can think of. It rained last night and it still shot up the back hill. I took it throught the ravine and I was having so much fun that I forgot about the no battery thing. If I stalled it out there I would have to hope my 2wd tractor could get it out. The brakes work great, as well as the transfer case. It shifts good, but I am not too crazy about going down the road with it. I got to 60 mph and thought about the cops stopping me. I did notice that one tailpipe is missing just past the muffler. The temperature guage is not working. It could use a tune-up although it runs and idles really smooth with 7 year old gas in it. I am sure someone is going to have fun with this even if they have to tow it to a place they can use it. I still have a big smile on my face after this last ride. I guess I now know why Scout fans are so crazy about these things. I sure wish I had more time to play with this thing, but after 7 years now and still the first tank of gas in it I would rather see someone with the time to use it happy. On Jun-14-11 at 10:14:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to let people know the scout is still up for auction. Also I crawled under to see if I could find any holes in the floor and didn't see any. The body supports do however have some rust holes in them. Also if the winner wants the plow also they can have it, but there is a spot on the plow mount that needs to be re-welded. The flat tire is still holding air, so it must be a really slow leak. If you have any more questions just ask. I may be able to deliver this if it is an issue for a serious/future scout lover. I of course would need gas money and lunch money too..............Wendy's sounds good right now to me............That's it for now. Good luck Bidding!!!On Jun-14-11 at 14:24:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I just found out that I have this friday off. If there is someone that lives close to here that is interested in the scout they are welcome to come drive it around before the auction is up. Just give me an e-mail with your number and what time you might be by and I'll call or E-mail you back with directions. Thanks, JonOn Jun-14-11 at 16:19:19 PDT, seller added the following information: I just had someone stop to look at the scout. I crawled under again and found 1 hole I could stick my thumb into. Also the transfer shift lever is hard to select between ranges. I think it could use some wd40. Also the wipers don't work. Just want to keep current info. Thanks, Jon
