Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1965 Mustang Coupe, 200/6 cyl engine with an automatic transmission. The young man I purchased this car from 4 years ago grandfather bought this car brand new in 1965 and it has in his family ever since. There are no mysteries in this car's past, just lots of good stories and good memories. It has served as a daily driver for most of that time.It has new wheels and tires from Firestone and is in good running condition. The motor starts pretty quickly and it turns a lot of heads and gets a lot of attention. The engine was rebuilt at 100,000 miles and again at 150,000. I have a file folders from the family over the years of receipts showing most of the work that has been done over the past couple of decades. His father owned this car from the early 1980's to 2001 when the young man previous owner got it from him. They mandated that the family keep it as original as possible, so the factory radio is still in the dash and I believe it still works, at least it turns on. The speakers and antenna are connected to an underdash mounted radio/cd remote player that works well. The rear speakers are new and sound great. The heater works well. There is no A/C but with the windows down and all the vents open it stays pretty comfortable. The upholstery is in very good condition, there is a very minor tear in the back seat (about 1/4"). The horn no longer works, if I recall it was disconnected because it started blowing one day and wouldn't shut off. Electrical system working well other than that. All windows and vents work, both door locks work. The paint still looks fairly good with a nice coat of wax but it is showing its age, also there are a few light scratches and dings. It is not the original paint but it is the original color. The windshield has some scratches on it and I have all new front and back glass rubber which goes with the car which needs to be installed. All door handles inside and out have been replaced, new door panels lots of new stuff between $1000.00 to 1200.00 worth of new stuff and will include all receipts in file showing new stuff. Brand new work includes a new gas tank with new sender unit, new starter, new solenoid. Also, I replaced the 13" wheels with 14" wheels and new tires, it drives very good! Other (relatively) recent work includes new brake lines and a new exhaust system in 2003/2004.There is a little bit of rust on the passenger side (pictured). it has been well maintained and never wrecked. The door information plate was lost during a repair to replace the latch. The mechanic was apparently not thinking clearly, or at all. The good news is that the door latch works great. Knowing an antique car's full history in this much detail is very rare. This car has been loved for a long time and we're all sad to see it go. Feel free to email me with any questions or other pictures needed. Buyer must make all arrangements for shipping and car sold as is.
