Vehicle Detail

1960 VOLKSWAGEN KARMANN GHIA ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CLASSIC NO RESERVE!!! Up for sale with NO RESERVE is a 1960 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia which has been in California for it's entire life! There have only been two previous owners on this car and both are from the same family. It spent the majority of its life in Southern California before being driven up here to Northern California. This car runs and drives great and I would trust it to go anywhere. With gas prices being what they are currently this car gets AWESOME gas mileage and on top of that its a BLAST to drive! In the 90's this car went through a light restoration therefore it could stand a little freshening up. Nothing that really bothers me but its completely up to the new owner. I drive this car as it is and very much enjoy it. I get TONS of thumbs-up and looks everywhere it goes. Everyone loves this car. For the most part the body is straight with no dents. The paint is older so there are touchups, nicks, scratches and cracks here and there as you would expect from a 15 year old paint job as shown in the pictures. This is an ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CAR that is 99% RUST-FREE with absolutely ZERO RUST in the pan. If you know Karmann Ghia's from this era you know that is a very common problem when looking for one. Most pans on these car are rusted through. This vehicle appears to never have been in any major accidents. There is unnecessary body filler areas that have cracks on the hood, driver door and roof that would need to be addressed if you are planning an exterior restoration. All the glass is in good shape. A small chip repair has been done to the windshield at some point but other than that the glass is good with no cracks. The passenger side turn signal cover has been cracked. It's a $5 part. All the chrome is in decent shape for it age. The lower chrome trim should be replaced when the car is repainted. The roof and rear deck lid luggage racks are in AWESOME shape with no cracks in the wood. They are very solid. All four wheels have NEW 15" tires. The spare wheel is included however there is no tire mounted to it currently. The interior is in great shape and included is the ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL! The dash has NEVER been cut and still has the original hole for the radio intact. The electical system has been converted over to a 12 VOLT system. All lights and turn signals work with the headlights being run off of a separate switch. The gas gauge doesn't seem to be working but this is an easy fix. Windshield wipers work. The seats have a slight discoloration on the top portion from the sun but no tears, or cracks. The driver armrest needs to be bolted in again a very easy fix. The armrest is still in tact. Newer seatbelts have been installed front and rear as the 1960 model did not come with seatbelts at the time. The headliner is great shape. The chrome trim for the doors are off but I may have them around and if I find them they will be included with the sale of the car. As you can see from the pictures the carpet throughout the car is in great shape. The E-Brake cable needs to be replaced. The engine has been REBUILT with less than 20k miles. The clutch was done at the same time. The transmission shifts smoothly and goes into all four gear with no binding which is VERY RARE TO FIND on almost any classic VW. A NEW BATTERY and VOLTAGE REGULATOR were installed recently. The BRAKES ARE PHENOMENAL and were also recently redone. It stops on a dime. While driving down the road the cars goes straight and doesn't pull to either side even under heavy breaking. If you're looking for a great investment you can drive anywhere, that gets AWESOME GAS MILEAGE, that is very DEPENDABLE, that gets looks constantly, this car is for you. If you're looking for a show car please continue your search. This is a RARE 1960 Karmann Ghia that is ready for summer cruising. This is a car you could hop in and drive anywhere. Use it as a commuter, a pleasure cruiser or even to advertise your business! The pictures speak for themselves. The words in the descriptive title are keywords only. This is not a hot rod, rat rod, or custom. It is a STOCK CALIFORNIA ORIGINAL CAR. PLEASE SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY! PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID.
