Vehicle Detail

Here is a barn find most Ford enthusiasts can only dream about. We just rescued this 1959 ford galaxy 500 Skyliner retractable hardtop from a barn last weekend, where it has been in storage for the last 30 years. The first few photos in the listing show the car just after it was pulled from the barn and loaded on the flatbed. We took it back to the shop, pressure washed off the worst of the dirt, and put 4 good tires on it and gave it a good look over. It has a V8 motor with a standard floor shift transmission, although the car was originally an automatic. It was driven into the barn back in the 80s, but the motor is frozen now, you might be able to free it up with a bit of work, but we haven,t had the time to try. The engine is all there except for the air cleaner. The glass is all good except for the passenger window which is cracked. The car is remarkably solid for its age. I pulled up the carpets where I could and only found one small hole which is shown in the pictures. The seats are in amazingly good shape, they cleaned right up, and look almost as good as new. The inner door panels are with the car and are also in very good shape. Sorry, I forgot pictures of them. We hooked up booster cables to the car and played with the roof controls, and managed to get the trunk lid up enough to take some pictures inside it. The trunk floor appears very solid as well. We weren,t able to get the top to work properly, although all the solenoids and screw jacks seemed to be working. Not surprising considering the amount of time its been in storage. On to the body. There is damage on the drivers side door and quarter panel, but it is repairable. Both quarter panels appear to have been replaced at one time, we figured during the 70s judging from the bronze welding technique which was used. The car comes with a re-chromed rear bumper as well. Overall it is an excellent starting project for a restoration, or get it running and drive it as a "survivor". Fully restored Skyliners are fetching big money today. We,ve researched these vehicles extensively to determine the fair asking price and set the reserve accordingly. If you have any questions feel free to call Steve at 705 718 3430 or Chad at 705 888 2421.Vehicle is for sale locally, so we reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding
