Here's a great looking 1970 Oldsmobile 98 convertible with only 58,000 original miles on it!! "Fire Engine" Red with a white interior and a brand new white top, this super running 455 motored convertible also has 4 brand new white wall tires. Purchased in 1970, this physician-owned vehicle was weekend driven and winter stored for 38 years until the owners death. For 3 years this fine automobile sat in the garage until about 3 weeks ago when his widow called and asked us to sell the car for her. After a new battery and, some fresh gas the engine started right up and ran smoothly and the transmission shifted effortlessly. After a thorough washing we wet sanded the body and buffed it to a high lustre. The motor was washed, the interior was scrubbed and the trunk washed and vacuumed. Now for what it needs: We thoroughly cleaned the engine compartment but did not paint the motor, valve covers or other underhood items, except for the air cleaner, feeling that a new owner would probably prefer to do some further detailing and painting under the hood to suit his own tastes. While there is no rust on the body we did notice rust on the underside of both ends of the front bumper. Our thoughts were to scrape the rust away and coat the small area with zinc paint, but decided to leave those areas to the new owner in case they would prefer to replate the entire bumper..........but let me emphasize that the 2 areas cannot be seen unless you physically get down on your hands and knees to look, so the zinc solution may be acceptable. Because the top is new, we elected not to put it all the way down to allow it to stretch the wrinkles out of the material, but to put it halfway up so that you can see the underside. Not quite a show car yet, but a great looking driver, this car could be show material with a small amount of work.
