This is my 1978 Ford Pinto Pony edition. It has bounced around the family for almost 3 decades. Was a daily driver at first, then later in years turned into a drag racing car. This has been about 2/3'rds of its life until recently. Drag racing was getting expensive for me and was loosing is appeal. So I decided to turn it back into a daily driver. First the factory L4 engine and automatic transmission was removed and a 1974 Ford Racing Cobra engine with a C4 automatic transmission was installed for the drag strip. Recently I removed all the roll cage tubing, put back in most of the interior pieces and had the engine and transmission pulled and found a L6 with matching C4 transmission to put in its place. As of 5/17/2011 the Pinto was now my daily driver. The monster V8 and set-up is still in my garage taking up space and have it for sale on here as well. The problems I had since 5/17/11 are: Transmission front seal is cracked and drips a small mount of fluid while running. So far it doesn't drip while parked that Ive noticed. That's it. But this morning 5/26/11 I went to go start it to go run some errands and it'll have a rough idle for a few seconds then shut off. Not sure why. I check the head gasket and its not busted, spark plugs are good, not sure about the wires though. I thinking it may be the Carburetor may need a good cleaning but I haven't checked. The money I sank into this car I could have bought a brand new one. Yet you shouldn't cry over spilled milk. I don't have the attention span for it any more and dont feel like spending any more money on it. Im going to take my brothers advice and by a motorcycle like him. Though the V8 that was pulled is for separately on here, if you hit the Buy-It-Now option I'll give you the V8 with the car And yes the car from factory had A/C but those parts word gone with the original engine. I made sure this L6 had the set up for it, had the extra pulley and bracket hole to mount the compressor. But I have zero A/C parts as of now. Plus if you do the Buy-It-Now and get the additional drive train set up, youll have to haul that away as well, wont fit in the trunk! Ha ha! I accept Cash in Person or Pay Pal.
