Vehicle Detail
I have been forced to relist this item due to a bidder that would not make contact, aiahquiwa ( 0 ) never responded to emails or made any attempt to contact me. As a result of this, Anyone with under 5 feedback must email me before bidding or I will cancel your bid! We see this all the time on Ebay, and my cost for the last unpaid listing of this item was $64.00, which I am certainly going to try to get Ebay to cancel since nothing sold other than auction ending with bogus bidder. We bought this car for my son to learn the basics of vehicle maintenance and car care. That turned out to be an understatement! In the just under 2 years we have owned this, We have gone through it replacing item after item, part by part. Mileage showing is not accurate, I think dash panel has been replaced at some point, but car history shows it around 170k. Not too much for a 17 year old. We had brake trouble, front brakes. Thought would just replace pads.. ended up replacing rotors, bearings, pads and everything else related to front brakes. It stops on a dime now! Next was A/C system, it blew, and not cold... That is all working like it should now, very comfy in the summer heat. We then noticed it was overheating, not predictably, but when it decided to. Replaced clutch fan, nope. replaced water pump, nope. We ended up going through the whole system piece by piece, we think we got it by installing an override switch in the center console (Aircraft Style flip cover switch my son wanted) to operate all the cooling fans at once, including a new electric fan to replace the pully driven clutch fan. We think this worked. It has gotten warm since, but not bubbling anymore.. The only thin we still have to replace is the thermostat, and will be in the glove compartment for the new owner to do with as they see fit. Then the driver door window came off it's track and fell to the bottom of the door. We saved it, no broken glass, but in falling it broke the door release linkage. We do have the door panel that is off the door in the photo, but did not spend the time to replace the linkage, we just pull the linkage wire to open the door. The decision to sell the car came a few weeks ago. We took it for it's California SMOG test and despite passing emissions with flying colors, there is a new test that is required for older vehicles, in which they pressurize the fuel tank to make sure fuel vapors can not escape into the environment, this part it did not pass, hence failing the test on a technicality. I looked at all the money I have spent on this vehicle and decided it was time for it to pass on to a new owner. I have literally spent a few thousand dollars getting this car in shape, but am done. There is not a lot left to be done, and I know there is someone else that would love this classic Land Rover to cruise around in or head out and have some off road fun. This thing is a tank! The paint is faded on the upper exposed areas, and the interior is in great shape. The dual sunroof's are electric operated, and are not working, I never had time to check them out. Seats and headliner in really good shape. I also want to mention that in the process of making some of the repairs, we had to disconnect the battery for a long duration. When we put everything back together, the factory radio now requires a code to be entered to operate. Before this the sound system was fantastic. Code can be obtained at any Land Rover dealer, or some private stereo guru can probably unlock for a minimal fee. I am offering this as an absolute auction. I have a reasonable first bid, and after that no reserve. Some teenager would love this as a first car, just as my son did! I have been as honest as the day is long in this description. It is a 17 -18 year old car being offered by a private party, sold in AS IS condition! The SMOG certificate will be the responsibility of the buyer, as will be the late fee if registered in California as registration has expired.
