This Corvette has no hidden stories. Starts every time, and runs cool, idles strong, runs strong. Have never been stranded by this car, very reliable. My goal when searching for a car 2 years ago was to find something that was mechanically and cosmetically sound. This car needed virtually nothing, but I have still improved items here and there over the last 2 years of ownership. Car is covered and stored in climate controlled garage Perfect 1970 Corvette convertible for someone not looking for a project, who doesn’t have the time or money for costly repairs, who wants to begin driving the car right away with confidence that it has been professionally updated and cared for. On Apr-25-11 at 07:41:16 PDT, seller added the following information: NEW INFORMATION BASED ON YOUR QUESTIONS. 1. During Restoration, when I installed a restored Center Console unit, the restored unit came with a dash data plate that read 350/350. The car is a 350/300. I have the orginal dash plate/center console/radio and the orginal data plate with that on it. 2. The car is rust free. We went through and replaced all the bushings and bearings this year and found no rust in the suspension, and only a light dusting on some hardware. Pictures will be forthcoming when I can the car on the lift this week. 3. The spare and the wheel are all original, painted to match the body. (I do not think they were powder coated, but they are body colored and in good shape) The spare is present, but not the orignal jack. 4. The Vintage Air system was installed this year, but when I had taken the photo I had the belt off the compressor to fine-adjust the belt on the power steering pump which appeared slightly out of line and potentially would wear the belt early. The air works perfectly and is COLD! Check out VIntage Airs website for more info. 5. I will post additional photos this week and can be reached at DRC@Bosdun.com to set up phone conferences. 6. I paid a premium for this car two years ago and have put well over $10,000.00 in perfecting the interior and mechanics. It is not perfect, no car is, but it is the best I have ever seen. On Apr-25-11 at 11:42:41 PDT, seller added the following information: 7. What is the cars ownership History and how much is original? I do not know the total history of the car beyond my own purchase out of St Louis, Missouri. And the 1970 Corvette Registry offered little help. I have researched the car from many publications for authenticity however. Most of the car is original parts with matching numbers. When a new part was available I installed it...(mirrors, dash top, carpet, weather stripping etc.) if not I restored the original (dash fronts, console, seat covers, door panels) I have made a few, I believe, subtle and appropriate upgrades with an eye toward reliability and cosmetic originality. For example I installed color matched retractable seatbelts in place of the factory lap belts. Much better looking and infinitely safer. I installed the Air Conditioner after researching units that where original, or various upgrades, and settled on the most expensive and most efficient unit, the Vintage Air model designed for the C3. Using all original controls and vents, the unit hides perfectly and runs extremely well (a must here in Florida) I ungraded most of the weather seals and designed a leak preventer that keeps water from coming in off the rear deck vents for the Astro Ventilation sytem, while still letting the vents works as originally intended. I restored the gauges, clock, main bearing, bushings, carpeting, carburetor and distributor systems through the renowned Corvette guru's at Eiserman Corvette in Jupiter, Florida. New in dash speakers help the new radio, it is a retro look metal unit that allows for inputs from Ipod, USB and SIM cards from a hidden source, and it is remotely controlled if desired. (This I appreciate, have you tried to lean forward and get to the radio while driving a C3?). Maybe the most fun upgrade was the stainless steel chambered exhaust. Imagine side pipes, awesome when shifting, but reasonable at speeds, and that is the sound, And they are totally and unobrusively mounted through the origanl square rear exhaust outlets. The car has some slight exterior wear (a light scratch on the decklid, a small scrap that was touched up on the left rear fender arch, about 1 inch in length) lightly pitted original rear bumperettes, and a small dent on the lower right front bumper under support. I also installed new 1972 era convertible door posts supports. This is pictured in the door photo, it strengthens and enhances the door closing rigidity. It is a cylinder mounted in the upper door opening and a small cone on the door that slides into it when the door shuts. I installed all new stainless pressure switches for the door buzzer (which works fine, it is just really annoying) dash lights and interior lighting. Mostly new insignia too.
