Vehicle Detail

This 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been in our family most of its life. My late mother bought it here in North Carolina in1995; it had apparently spent most or all of its prior life in Florida. The overall condition is worn but usable. It is currently licensed, inspected and insured here in North Carolina with a clear NC title. The engine and transmission are sound and all basic systems which affect drivability and roadworthiness function. The engine exhibits an intermittent lifter click. The air conditioner needs recharging, but it did work last year. Yes, I know everyone says that, but in this case it is actually true. Obviously, the refrigerant leaks down over the winter as it has for the past several years. The power windows all work (including the tailgate window), but the two rear door windows are sluggish from lack of use. The power steering gear leaks fluid. The Jeep has good oil pressure (I rebuilt the oil pump and installed the updated pressure spring years ago), a recent timing chain and gears and water pump. The tires are good and the Select-Trac four-wheel-drive system works great in both high and low ranges. Other than our meadow, it has never been off-road since this family has owned it. The tires are relatively new and in good condition. Gas mileage is in the neighborhood of 12 MPG; nobody buys these cars because they are gas-sippers. The body is basically good with a few dents and a bit of rust in the rear quarter panels (including one hole). The floors are solid. The cream yellow paint is dull, and the 3M “wood” trim is deteriorated. The windshield has a small stress crack in the lower right-hand corner which has never increased in size since it showed up years ago. The driver’s seat has some rips in the leather and the passenger’s seat shows some wear. The driver’s side factory floor mat (NOT the carpet) has a hole in it but it is in otherwise decent condition. I installed a new suspended headliner about 14 years ago which is still in good shape. It has a Class III trailer hitch and a functioning four-wire harness, which should tell you that it has never towed anything big enough to require trailer brakes. I will not represent any aspect of this Jeep as “excellent”, but it has had greater care and maintenance than most which were used as daily vehicles instead of being pampered. Some of the car’s weak points can be seen in the accompanying photographs. I also urge you to come and inspect the car before bidding if you live sufficiently close to do so. Now for all of the “legal stuff”: No warranties of any type are expressed or implied. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Payment of $500 in U.S. funds is required immediately upon auction’s end, and the balance in U.S. funds is required within five days of the auction’s end (cash or cashier’s check only).
