Vehicle Detail
I am selling a 1953 Ford F-350 (1 ton), pick up truck. 50th. anniversary year, 1st. year for this body style. The truck has had a lot of work done to it sometime in the past, including a custom all steel 9 foot bed. The truck has had some bodywork done but impossible to tell how much. There are a few areas where the repair is failing and needs to be redone. It has a metallic green base coat / clear coat finish and the clear coat is pealing off in several places, but if you dont want to re paint it the spots can be re clear coated. I did one spot and it's noticable but would work to make the paint job last a little longer. I would make the body repairs and re paint it if I kept it. The paint on the interior is great. There are a few patches in the floorboard on the drivers side that need to be fixed correctly, then it would be ready for interior. Not sure what the seat came out of, but it's a good fit and comfortable. The windshield and back glass are undamaged. The drivers side door glass is cracked, and the passenger side door glass has a small spot at the bottom. Overall the truck is in very good condition for 58 years old. It was indicated on the previous title that the mileage was actual. Speedometer doesnt work so who knows. Parts of the truck look like it could be low mileage. The engine is very likely the original 239 flathead V8 and the transmission is the correct T98 granny gear 4 spd. Both look like they came in the truck. The engine bumps right off on the 1st. or 2nd. turn even cold. Runs like a clock and doesnt knock or rattle. It does have a little blow by cold and it puffs a little smoke cold or at high RPM's when changing gears, but not bad at all. I dont think the motors been rebuilt. If it has it's been a long time ago. The clutch works fine and the brakes are good, (hard pedal). The worst thing about the truck is the steering. You can keep it in the road at 65 MPH, but it has a lot of slack in it. Underside has a little rust here and there but again not bad. Oil pressure runs up to 45 cold and averages 25 at highway speed, pretty common from the research I've done. The oil pressure guage didnt work so I installed a mech. guage. Exaust pipes are fine, needs mufflers. Thats about all I know about the condition of the truck. I've tried to be as honest and detailed as I can so if I missed anything please ask me and I'll try to answer your question. The truck is being offered for sale AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. Ok, now that the important stuff is taken care of. I bought a 52 F-1 to do a ground up on, and found this 53 two days later. Cant have but one project and after much thought I decided to go the long haul and build the 52. Otherwise I would not part with this truck. I have a reasonable reserve on it but will sell it to the high bidder once the reserve is met. The truck is registered and has a new antique tag. Tires are great, and I drive this truck a couple times a week and wouldnt be afraid to drive it a couple hundred miles if you want to drive it home. Terms = $500 dollar deposit within 2 business days of winning the auction, by Pay-Pal prefered. Full payment in cash or certified funds within a week please.
