this is a very straight and RUST FREE 1937 ford coupe i bought last year. i just bought a 1931 so decided to sell this to help pay for the 31. the previous owner had had this since the late 60's. it was painted back then, as was the change over to the 1949 8 ba flathead, and 1940 ford juice brakes. car was driven into the 80's, and sat since the early 90's sometime. the previous owner was to old to do anything with it, and his son was going to get it painted for him, and sister had all the interior re-done, garnish moldings re-chromed along with the bumpers, still all wrapped up. headlights and tail lights were also taken off, which headlights are just sitting in place for pictures. the dad was getting to old to enjoy the car, and was heading for the retirement home, and thee family decided to sell the car. i will list specifics in stages: BODY: the body on this car is probably the nicest one anyone could find to start with without paying $30,000-$40,000 for a nice car. NO RUST, and only very small, small dings, that should not take anytime to fix, and really, i am talking minor!!! doors shut nice and tight! fenders are super solid, as is the trunk area. looks like at one time the gas filler was re-located on the inside of the drivers trunk, as there was a small repair there. the decklid shuts nice, and the hood, i have the hinges off, and have a new set for the car, along with hood latch chrome. all inside trim moldigs still wrapped up after chrome shop. all glass is good, except 1 of the 1/2 windows on rear is cracked. windshield still cranks open, and seals good. i took a picture of the roof, while standing on the running boards, which i am 270 lbs, and no sag or bends on the boards----solid!!! bumpers are also re-chromed, and still wrapped up. the grill is almost perfect! INTERIOR: the seats are originals, just re-done, along with the door panels. dash lights work, oil pressure good, amp and fuel work, needs temp sending unit. i only drove the car up the street to check out the gears. still has the original radio, with the box removed, but with the car. ignition works still with steering lock. door panels are behind the seat. DRIVETRAIN: the frame is stock, has 1940 ford juice brakes, and a 1949 ford flathead 8ba. still has original closed driveline, and 3 speed transmission. also the original 1937 wheels and hubcaps. it is changed to a 12 volt system, with a 6 volt drop to gauges. the exhaust was bad and taken off, and now has a set of vintage fenton headers. brakes are alittle soft, and may need some new wheel cylinders, or just bled from sitting. has a small electric fuel pump back by the tank. carb was recently rebuilt, new oil, plugs, and wires. motor was popping a little when cold, but it is uncapped, and timing was off, and now runs alot smoother---no smoke. may have a small piece of carbon under one of the valves, but is slowly smoothing out. may also need a new battery, or charged. END: this will be a very easy car to finish, and ready for cruise nights pretty quick. probably with a weekends worth of work, should be drivable. 37 coupes are hard to find, and really hard to find clean!! i saw a 39 here in denver that sold locally for $6900.00 with no engine, no transmission, no interior, and hit in the rear, with rust. it took awhile, but sold.
