COLLECTORS CALIFORNIA (Z CODE) - BLACK PLATE 71 1971 CHEVROLET CHEYENNE SUPER C-10 402/450HP THM400 12 BOLT Up For Sale is a very nice Barrett Jacksons Candidate Second Generation C 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super C-10 402 or "400" V8 Big Block (450hp) with a Turbo THM400 automatic transmission and 12 Bolt rear end, 1/2-Ton Commercial - Model C/Series 10 - 115-inch wheel base, Fleetside 6.5ft. * This 1971 is the 1st year of the Cheyenne and the 1st of only 2 years of the 402 cubic inch Big Block engine. The Cheyenne Super "Top Line" Trim Package is rare and unique. It only was manufactured from Late 1971 to 1972 models. It is rare, collectible and very sought after. * Built in Fremont California and has stayed in California all its life. What's very very interesting about this truck is the fact that it has Black California Plates on it. California Blue Plates came out in 1970. I don't know how that happened but I imagine some 1971 units ended up with Black Plates. I would think that this would be a significant collectible aspect of this rare truck. Introduced in 1970, the 402-cubic-inch (6.6 L) was a 396-cubic-inch bored out by 0.030 in (0.76 mm). Despite the fact that it was 6 cubic inches (98 cc) larger, Chevy continued marketing it under the popular "396" label in the smaller cars while at the same time labeling it "Turbo-Jet 400" in the full-size cars. - This ORIGINAL 402 Engine - was bored 30 over with new piston rings, balanced, heads completely rebuilt, new valves, big springs for cam. 292 Comp Cam, Solid lifters and roller rockers, Edlebrock RPM Air Gap Intake, Demon Carb. Mallory magnetic ignition with rev limiter. staging limiter and in cab timing control +- 8 degrees. Has fabricated aluminum valve covers (also comes with originals) and hooker super comp headers with 3" manderal bent exhaust flowmasters (also comes with original exhaust manifolds). 1971 OEM First Year Front Disc Brakes, Beltec lowering kit with new springs and shocks, Air Conditioning, New Wood Bed, New 18" rims, interior looks like new. Original Paint in good condition. The undercoating looks great and there is only a little rust in the rain gutter - pictured; that is all I could find. It looks to me like the original paint. There are a few paint chips as well nothing that a good detailer couldn't fix. If you've never seen the Super trim package it really is amazing. There is a lot of detail in the door panels, dash and cap ceiling. The truck is very clean and is owned by a friend and co-worker that is a carrier mechanic / engineer. It is very well kept and always stored indoors. It is a Z62 CUSTOM COMF & CONV EQ (Custom Comfort C-10) which has evolved into a Tribute Cheyenne Super C-10 - we looked up and searched (more) on the internet and found strings on the truck - see below. We also have confirmed that IT IS A NUMBERS MATCHING 402 Big Block with a THM400 transmission and a 12 Bolt rear end. I would not call this a clone due to the fact that the ID tag is still true and correct for the original build. It had Erik and I fooled. It is a dam good Cheyenne Super Tribute and Muscle Truck. It does have a lot of options.
