hughes35 Store This is a great garage find: a superb California from new 1960 MGA 1600 MKI roadster that was lovingly restored by an older gentleman who sadly never lived to enjoy the fruits of his labor. The comprehensive frame off restoration was finished in 1985 and this was the last time the car was on the road. This little British beauty has been sitting in a Bakersfield garage ever since and only now has the restorers wife decided to part with it . The California desert and a cosy resting place have been kind to this little car and it has been an easy task to bring it back to its former glory . The car is finished in old English White with a magnificent red Armco interior, sporting an uncut dashboard and dealer-installed AM radio. The paint is very nice but there are a couple of very small dings, minor battle scars from the big sleep. Panel fit is excellent and of course the underneath is all excellent and rust free. The original 1600 engine and matching transmission were both fully rebuilt during the restoration and despite the lack of a paper trail, a test drive is enough to prove it, the engine is superb, as is the transmission. We have rebuilt the brakes and she now drives like a dream. This is a very desirable version of a true classic and with the high compression 1600cc engine, original knock-off wire wheels and factory fitted front disc brakes, she is a superb and useable driver. th VIN is GHNL 80696 original Ca black-and-yellow licence # was BOT147 - first sold in California in 1960.
