Vehicle Detail
My Brother and I were given this car by our Father before he passed of Pancreatic cancer. We don't know much about the history of it, except what we have done to it in the last year. Our intentions were to keep it for sentimental value, but tough times have forced us to sell it. Drivetrain: The engine ran good when our dad had it and we decided to take him to VIR to make a couple of laps in it. Unfortunately, the instructor that drove the first two laps shifted from first to second, then back into first at full throttle. Needless to say, it reved pretty high, bent some valves and broke a rocker arm. We towed it back to my shop and did a compression and leakdown test to confirm what we suspected. We decided that a rebuild was in order so we did just that. Starting from the top, the engine has a new air box assembly, intake boots, rocker arms, valves and seals, timing chain and tensioners, rings and a clutch (all oem replacement parts). All of the gaskets were replaced as well and the heads were sent out and checked for cracks. We tuned the CIS injection on our in-house dyno and now it runs better than ever. There is a little over 700 miles on the rebuilt engine (original block and heads, btw) and we just finished re-adjusting the valves (recommended after 500 miles on rebuild and every 10,000 miles after). It has aftermarket long tube headers and dual exhaust. We installed a Prosport A/F guage to monitor the engine during break-in, but can be removed easily. Interior: The interior is in pretty good shape considering it's age. The seats are worn, but not torn or scratched. The dash has a rip in the seam above the A/C (which works) air vents. The sunroof does not function, but you can access the motor from a slit that was cut in the headliner and stitched back. The carpet is in great shape. It has an aftermarket cd player and Hybrid Audio replacement speakers throughout. Exterior: The paint is ORIGINAL! There is a small spot below the pass. headlamp that is damaged and a small rock chip on the front of the cowl. Otherwise, the paint is in really good shape for almost thirty years old. Is it showroom? No, but a paint job will not be on your priority list. The rock protecters infront of the rear wheels have been replaced and the front air dam looks like it hit a curb or two, but it turns heads everywhere we go. This would be a very nice car for someone that has always wanted a classic Porsche that can be daily driven and tinker with the little imperfections as you go. If you happen to live close by, we will be happy to service the car for you, since we now know everything about this vehicle. The value is hard to assess, but we have seen these go for $15,000 in roughly the same condition without a fresh rebuild. Our reserve is considerably less due to our need to sell it, so happy bidding.
