Vehicle Detail
Up for bids today, as a NO RESERVE AUCTION is a 1957 GMC Deluxe Cab ½ ton Truck in amazingly original and unrestored condition that I have owned for the past 15 years. I purchased it from the original owner and it has always been garaged and never stored outside which is why it remains in such amazing condition. It is a California truck, Turquoise and White with mostly original paint, still shiny but thinning. All chrome and stainless trim are in excellent, original condition. It has never been taken apart or restored. It has been garaged and lovingly cared for its whole life and only repaired as needed. MECHANICAL: This truck still has the original factory installed, very smooth running 347 V8 engine which was supplied to GMC by Pontiac. This was a rare and extra cost option as most of these trucks had 6cyl engines. It is also coupled to the optional Hydramatic 4 speed Automatic Transmission. It also has a Positraction rear end. The motor runs great, silent and powerful. The transmission shifts well through all the gears and if you really push on the gas, the truck will lay 2 equal patches of rubber on the street! Just installed are new brakes, hoses, wheel cylinders, battery, radiator recore and brand new water pump (not rebuilt). Several years ago, I added a dual exhaust with Smithys Mufflers which give it a really nice, old school sound. PAINT, BODY, CHROME, INTERIOR: This truck still sports its factory applied Turquoise and White paint. It still shines but shows obvious signs of thinning. There is no surface rust showing through the paint. The Chrome and Stainless Trim is in excellent condition with no dents or dings whatsoever. The glass is in excellent condition with chips, scrapes, discoloration, cracks or hazing. Even the optional Big Back Window shows well and has no signs of discoloration along the edges. Although this truck has almost all original paint, it has had some light rust repairs performed long before I purchase it. These repairs have been made in the typical places such as cab corners, rocker panels, bottoms of the front fenders, lower door areas, lower door hinge areas and headlight areas. As mentioned, this work was done many years ago by an amateur but seems to be holding up well. It has not changed in appearance over the years but these repairs are noticeable. The color match is perfect – I must give him credit for that!! This truck is not a rust bucket! It is in much better shape than most original, unrestored trucks on the market. The bed still has the original wood and it’s in nice condition. No cracked or broken boards. The tailgate is the original GMC design with correct 1957 logo. These correct logo tailgates are almost impossible to find and are not reproduced. The interior is in fantastic, original condition. Most of the seat fabric is original. The lower seat cushion was repaired and the rest of the upholstery was saved and just re-stitched. The factory installed headliner and Sun Visors are in perfect original condition. All gauges work properly including the Ultra-Rare Vacuum Gauge. All glass is in excellent condition and the windows roll up and down with ease. All exterior lights are bright and are in proper working order. The Rare Back-Up (reverse) Lights also work properly. This truck also has the optional and RARE Dual Note Horn which is very powerful. The Windshield Wipers, turn signals, brake lights all work properly. SUMMARY: For those of you out there who are not GMC fanatics, you may not know that there were many differences between GMC and CHEVROLET trucks. The GMC had a much different suspension, much more powerful engine, trans and rear end which enabled it to reach sustained modern day highway speeds of over 75 mph. The Chevy’s were not highway trucks!! The GMC also had much more trim than Chevrolet, interior and exterior. This truck runs fantastic and in my opinion, is way too nice to restore. Drive as is or restore as you wish. You will never find another original specimen as this one. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING!On Mar-28-11 at 07:44:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Although this truck is currently registered and titled in California, the California License Plate, Dealer Frame and Cow Horn is not included with the sale. Sorry but these are my personal items. Thanks for understanding. The sale Does Include the factory Dual Note Horns. I also forgot to mention that included with this sale, is the Factory Jack and Lug Wrench which is very unusual to not have been used for other purposes over the years then lost forever! It's still installed in the correct factory position on it's mounting bracket, behind the drivers seat in the cab corner. I do have an ULTRA - RARE Hood Jet (hood ornament) for this truck that I will consider selling. It has been rechromed and is in excellent show condition. These Hood Jets were always very rare to begin with, even in 1957 and today they are almost impossible to find. They are not reproduced. Contact me for more information. THANKS!!On Mar-28-11 at 09:00:23 PDT, seller added the following information: IMPORTANT: Seller reserves the right to end the auction early -OR- at any time because vehicle is offered for sale locally.
