Vehicle Detail

This truck was/is the result of a long search for me. I had every intention of building the "ultimate tow rig" and I wanted this truck to start as the base for this project. I looked for years, literally, to find this truck. I found it on Craigslist in Dallas. I flew out from Alabama to Dallas, bought it, and drove it home. The short story about this type of truck is that Ford didn't make a crew cab 4wd dually (with a truck bed) in this body style, so all of them on the road have been converted. There is serious discussion on this topic and several dispute this, but in my experience, it holds true. All of the ones I have seen have been conversions from 1) cab and chassis trucks with DRW axles 2) SRW trucks converted to duallies. This truck was born as a service truck and had a service bed installed for many years. It was later converted to a driver and a dually bed installed. This is a very rare truck with tons of money spent on it. Stats: 1996 Ford F350 7.3L turbo diesel Automatic - Don't think it has been rebuilt, but can't verify. Shifts fine. 166k original miles Crew cab 4WD Black with gray cloth Never a gooseneck hitch installed I have owned this truck for about a year and have driven it ever since. I drive it at least once a week to the local car auctions (about 100 miles round trip). It runs and drives great. New parts, within 1000 miles: Front axle bearings/seals trackbar front brake discs front brake pads front dually adapters (from Arrowcraft) - http://www.arrowcraft.com/products.php#adaptors Driveshaft hanger bearing Magnaflow 4" Exhaust, turbo back, including custom down pipe Performance chip, 5 position, including fast idle, dial under dash to change programs on the fly Fuel pump (installed for about 3k miles) High pressure fuel lines (direct from Ford) K&N cold air intake The tires are all good with plenty of tread left. The bad: Needs a paint job - it's not terrible, but I was planning on painting it during the build processSmall oil leak after running - about eavery other drive, it will leave a spot about the size of a silver dollar on the ground Dash pad - not the whole dash, just the replacable pad in front of the passenger area Windshield - I planned on replacing this when I had it painted Needs a steering stabilizer - they didn't have one from the factory, but I think it would help Needs passenger side rear window motor Driver's seat cover is worn - I covered it with one of those super-fancy covers from AutoZone. Since starting this project, I have had two other vehicle projects come back home from various build shops. Two of these three projects have to go, including this one. I just don't have time to finish them.
