If you are looking for and early 911 showcar feel free to scroll down to the ones with starting bids of 30K+ or if you're looking for a long project rust bucket with no engine you can scroll up and you may find one around 2k. What I have here is an original rust free California 911 that needs very little to make it a daily/weekend driver or parade car. The Origin About 9 years ago, the previous owner brought this car into my shop for a paint job/light restoration. After a month or so I found it impossible to contact the owner so I filed for a lien sale. After a period of 90 days I became the legal owner of the car. About 8 years ago I paid all the DMVfees but never registered the car because I wasn't planning to drive it. At this time I have all papers on the car including the lien sale and DMV reciepts. If buyer is outside of California there will be transfer and registration fees. If buyer is in California there are fees totaling $480 that will have to be paid before registering the car. The Car I stored the car for about 7 years and only recently decided I would do something with it. I repaired a few dings that it had and refinished it with Silver Standox base coat/clear coat. The exterior is clean, strait and shiny and with all the trim black it looks very sharp. I think that covers the exterior. The interior needs some work. The dash has the normal cracks that most early 911's have and the carpet is old but serviceable. It has new door seals installed but the driver seat needs to be replaced (it has an aftermarket Recaro high-back seat that is very rough). The original low-back passenger seat has no rips and is serviceable along with the original rear seats which are old. The front door panels as well as the rear side panels are in very good original condition although the door pockets could use some love (common for early 911). The leather panel between the rear seats and rear glass is sun cracked and should be replaced. The headliner is intact and complete; it may be able to be cleaned to look great, if not a headliner is not very expensive. The Engine It seems to have the original engine and 5 speed transmission intact. The car starts and runs although it hasn't been driven for over a year, since the day I drove it from my shop in Campbell to my home in Modesto (about 120 mi) and it ran fine. The engine smokes! Quite a bit! If you are familiar with Porsche flat 6 engines you know this is normal for an engine thats been sitting for this long. I haven't driven the car for over a year and even then was only for one 120mi trip. I will make no guarantees on the engine as I said it does start and run and it drove strong a year ago. I "think" with a tune up it will be a good serviceable engine. The 5 speed gearbox goes through all the gears smoothly and when driven a year ago it ran fine with no slipping/groaning or popping out of gear. The windshield has a crack down the middle. I have and will include brand new front and rear windshield rubber. The undercarrage is very clean and original! This in my opinion, may be the most attractive part of this 911. If you have shopped for an early 911 you surely have found that a rust free floorplan and original front apron is a rare find. This 911 has both! It doesn't appear it has ever been in a major accident since all welds and undercoating under the bonnet are factory! The right side battery box is cherry, left side only has very minor surface rust, intactand easily repairable to make perfect, even the steering access box is rust free! The only trim needed as far as I can tell is the left outside rear-view mirror, rear bumper decco rubber strip and windshield squirters. The brakes are complete from reservoir to 4 wheel disks but I would suggest the whole system be flushed and serviced. The sunroof does NOT open and close, I dont know what it needs. It may be something as simple as a $10 fuse or switch or a $150 motor or cable. In my opinion to make this a drivable car it needs a tune up, brake service, battery and a drivers seat, after that a few weekends and very little money this will be a great parade car. On Mar-26-11 at 16:59:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Just to be clear and so there is no confusion, the odometer reading is 57,362. since the car is over 40 years old and I am not the original owner I cannot attest that this is the original miles. I can however assume that giving the age of the car the odometer has turned over. the # on the engine fan shroud is 901106101 5R, I hope this helps in determaning the correct engine for the car. thanks and happy bidding. On Mar-27-11 at 20:45:40 PDT, seller added the following information: engine # is *6131447*On Apr-02-11 at 17:49:42 PDT, seller added the following information: SOME HAVE EMAILED AND ASKED IF THE SILVER IS THE ORIGINAL COLOR..... I DIN'T KNOW. THE PAINT CODE PLATE ON THE LEFT DOOR JAMB READS 936-9-3_ _. THE LAST 2 DIGITS OF THE CODE ARE NOT LEGIBLE. WHEN I PAINTED THE CAR THE COLOR UNDERNIETH WAS SILVER AND I THINK THE ORIGINAL COLOR IS SILVER BUT I CANNOT ATTEST WITHOUT A DOUBT. AS FOR THE TITLE.... IF THE AUCTION REACHES 15K AND AFTER FUNDS HAVE CLEARED I WILL PERSONALY GO TO DMV THE NEXT DAY AND PAY FEES AND HAVE TITLE TRANSFERED TO NEW OWNERS NAME AS TO GIVE NEW OWNER TOTAL PIECE OF MIND AND SO THERE IS NO QUESTIONS OF ANY SURPRISES WHEN YOU GO TO DMV.
