Vehicle Detail
For Sale - 1977 Trans Am This car was just pulled out of a garage, where it sat mostly covered for the last 5+ years. The previous owner had the car for over 10 years. It runs, drives, stops, and steers, but will need some love before it's ready to be your daily driver. It appears to be numbers matching, and would be a great candidate for a full restoration, or a fun drive-while-you-restore project. They made 68,745 Trans Am's in 1977. This is one of 5,079 with the Oldsmobile-sourced 403 engine, which makes it pretty rare. I think it's color might make it even more rare. I haven't seen too many Brown Trans Am's out there! The good: The body is real straight. The previous owner said the car was painted a year or so before being stored, but it will need to be redone. The roof has some clear coat peeling, and the rear quarters (along the back window) have some bubbling. See pics for details. The car is VERY clean underneath. It was undercoated from the factory, and is a San Diego car. Super solid floors, frame rails, etc. The tan interior is real clean. There were some parts stored on the seats, so they will need a good cleaning. Carpet is acceptable for a driver, door panels look pretty good, dash has a crack on top (repairable), and a scuff by the headlight switch, but looks pretty good otherwise. The engine runs good and smooth. Once I got it home, I put in a good used battery, and primed the carb. The engine started right up, but it's obvious the gas in the tank is old and the carb needs to be cleaned/rebuilt. When I gave it gas, it went "Buh" and died. It restarted pretty quick, and If I feathered the gas, I got the RPM's to climb, but it's not good enough to drive cross-country by any means. The previous owner left a new cap/rotor/spark plugs/spark plug wires in the trunk, so I installed them. The car has 4 of it's original 7" Snowflake rims. The tires all hold air, and have some tread left on them. The car has a new "smog legal" cat-back Flowmaster exhaust Came equipped with AC, Tilt Wheel, Formula Wheel, Power Windows The car comes with a "new-in-the-box" decal kit from Phoenix Graphics (part #7378L G/C) Original Jack is in the trunk, but no spare tire The windsheild was replaced while car was being stored The Bad: The car has been sitting for 5+ years. It will need to be gone through just to be sure everything is OK. It runs, drives, stops and steers.. but I'd give it a good looking over before strapping in the kids and cruising. It's missing one center cap from the rims The seat belts were modified (previous owner cut them; only have lap belts now) It has an aftermarket stereo It's brown Missing driver's side front fender flare, and front center section of spoiler It was an A/C car, but pieces are missing. Compressor is there, and the clutch works when powered. The condensor is gone. The pictures show the car as it sits. There are cob webs on it, and it has a coating of dust, grime, and lawn clippings. The car really needs a good cleaning to show it's true potential. It would be a great car to doll up and cruise for the summer, then tear it down and re-do it nice for next season. I got it with the intention of making it my daily driver (I also have a '73!).. but plans have changed. I have lots of pictures, so let me know if you want to see anything up close. I tried to get photos of any trouble areas I saw. I have a clean and clear California Title for this vehicle. Vehicle is being advertised locally (s a l e / t r a d e) so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Reserve price is lower than "buy it now" price was when car was first listed. ATTENTION CALIFORNIA BIDDERS: YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SMOG/DMV FEES As with all Ebay auctions, please do not bid if you do not intend to purchase this vehicle. a $500 deposit is due within 3 days of auction end, full payment is due within 7 days. It is only a 5-digit odometer, so it could be 130101, 230101, 330101...
