Thanks for Looking! For sale is a 2002 toyota prius. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE and WILL NEED TO BE TOWED. The body and interior is in good shape. The engine starts (MG1 turns engine, engine runs well, engine charges HV battery via inverter assembly), but the vehicle does not move much. It crawls on level surfaces. A toyota tech told me this symptom is common to the vehicle running in a 'fail safe mode' that protects the car from destroying itself., moving only enough to get off a road. I'm NOT 100% sure this is the case. This may be a steal for someone who is familiar with hybrid systems or for someone repairing a running wrecked prius. The hybrid battery was rebuilt with salvaged second generation battery modules. The HV-ECU and inverter/converter assembly were both replaced with used parts that were claimed to be in 'full working condition' when removed by the parts dealer. I have taken this vehicle to two different toyota dealerships and they both gave me a run-around (shock!, I know). The first refused to give me a proper diagnostic without replacing the rebuilt HV battery, but charged me for diagnostics anyway. The second had to 'open a case with toyota', which tells me they had no idea what they were doing and didn't actually know what was wrong with the car. They told me the car should run after replacing everything that has the word hybrid on it. The did give me some diagnostics, but nothing with specific INF codes. I was only able to trigger a DTC P3125 on my scanner although they claimed there were several more that my scanner is capable of reading. Through my diagnostics and considering what has been replaced already, I am suspicious of MG2 in the transaxle and/or the MG2 resolver although I could imagine it might be something simple triggering fail safe mode. Replacement of MG2 would require a vehicle lift and a set of tools, space and time that is not available to me. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS with no guarantees or warranty. I have disclosed in the description my full knowledge of the car. I do not know what the problem with the car is or the scope of the problem. This vehicle will have to be towed from its current location in Orlando, FL. I wish I had the time and resources to fix the problem as this car is capable of 45+ MPG in running order. It is an attractive looking car in good cosmetic condition. No smoke or pet hair in the interior. A deposit of $500 required within 72 hours of auction end and the rest can be paid when picked up.
