Vehicle Detail

75 TRIUMPH TR6 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I bought this about 1 year ago, with 38,000 miles on it, against the wishes of my wife (surprising, no?). It is a true Mimosa Yellow 75 with black interior. As my daughters were headed off to college, I just had to have a new toy....wife disagrees. I bought it from the widow of a dentist who had owned it for over 20 years. It had been, and still is, garage kept. Car was represented as being in excellent condition and an excellent driver. The body and frame were excellent (no rust and only a few minimal dings, repaint to original color by prior owner, I do not know when this was done). The car ran, but really needed updating. Based on representations, it had sat for a long time without use. As such, I began renewing the car so that it would provide reliable fun Since buying the car, I have put over $8,000 (parts and mechanic labor) into the car. I upgraded to SU Hitachi carbs (simply put, they are simpler and more reliable then the Strombergs) and had the engine rebuilt (all parts/work listed below). Obviously, the oil pressure is great. Weiand separate air cleaners are on the way and the original TR air cleaner also comes with the car. At the same time, I had a new clutch installed. From a handling perspective, I had rear sway bar installed (normally, TRs are tail happy), upgraded rear shocks to tower shocks and had Nylatron bushings fitted from Goodparts, front and back. Also bought two new red line tires, had extra red line mounted on the spare (I love the looks of redlines, but if you want handling you need some newer rubber). I had the alternator and starter rebuilt. I installed a custom Wizard Aluminum radiator to ward off California heat. Also, installed a red top Optima battery. I upgraded the stereo to an Alpine with IPod connection. Installed new Pioneer front co-ax speakers and placed Radio Shack Optimus speakers in rear. Car has the convertible top cover, as well as the full cockpit toneau cover. I also have a Snug Top hardtop for the car. So, what’s left....car stops, but could use new pads. Interior is clean, but I hate the dash and have purchased new OEM wood dash that is ready to install (comes with the car). I was also planning on pulling the gauges for cleaning, but found a Speedo and Tach in excellent condition for sale and purchased them to avoid hassle of cleaning original (but original is still in, as it represents the “correct” 38,000 miles on the car….as it came from last owner…I make no representations or guarantees in this regard). Finally, the turn signal isn't working and I suspect it is some bulbs or relay, just haven’t gotten around to it. I don't drive in the rain and have never had the soft top up, but do see the side plastic windows are cracked/torn, so it would need a new top if you use it in bad weather. Finally, prior owner changed the exhaust to a more straight back and I would switch back to the original. I believe this covers everything that is or may be an issue. Body/frame is rust free. Body is straight. There are a few dings here and there but nothing to take away from the looks. Paint is very nice. There is also a chip in the paint at the right rear wheel well...touched up poorly, but works from 5-10 feet. Car gets a LOT of attention, even here in Ferrari/Lambo laden So. Cal.
