Vehicle Detail
Car was purchased by myself in Oklahoma but it spent most of its life in Arkansas. It has a clear title issued in my name from the State of Missouri to transfer to you upon purchase. This car is a running project. No, you can't hop in it and drive it home. It has been sitting for a few years and needs attention to mechanical items to get it back to roadworthy condition but it is getting harder and harder to find them with a body in this shape with a minimal amount of rust on it. VEHICLE CONDITION BODY: Overall a very solid car having never been repainted or had rust repaired on it. It does have a couple of small flaws. Previous owner claimed his wife tried starting the car without the clutch pedal depressed and it moved forward in the garage hitting the front wall. The bumper mount area was damaged as shown in the photos but this is an easy repair and I have already cut a couple of ends off of a parts car that I have here for you to use as replacement parts. There was also some minimal damage to the front fenders but I believe that once you reinstall the bumper, you won't notice it. There is a spot on the drivers side inner front fender where it has been slightly straighted and this also is shown in a pic. Rust on the car is very limited and confined to some bubbles starting on the passenger side rear dog leg and a 3/8" bubble spot on the same side rocker panel. I found some rust penetration holes, small but still holes, in both floor pans. I do not believe that this would warrant the replacement of the floor but rather patch them. I bought a replacement floor panel from a repair shop locally and he had used a portion of it to repair another car but did not need the rest so it is here and included with the sale of this car and that should take care of any rust problem areas with this car. Solid jack points, solid unibody. OVERALL, a great body on this car. INTERIOR: Seats appear to be original with no rips or tears in the vinyl. There is a split on the drivers seat head rest that can be repaired. Carpet has been replaced in a couple of spots and there is more carpet here but not sure if there is a complete kit or not. Dash has a cap installed on it and rather poorly. MECHANICAL: The wiring on this car is boogered pretty well and it was a nightmare to get it to where I could get the car started so I will tell you right now that there needs to be some attention to repair of the harness or replace it. Once I got the engine started, it sounded very well with no funny noises and no smoke. I believe the previous owner had replaced the cylinder head but very few miles since replacement. Compression was even across the 4 cylinders at 95. When oil was added, it went up to 125. OIl pressure was good at 70 psi. Clutch and brake hydrualics need repair so the car is not driveable. Tires are old and left front has a slow leak. TOP and COVERS: The convertible top was shot so it was tossed. The frame, of course, is still here and in good shape. The car has a boot cover but it has a 3 inch tear in it. Car also comes with a tonneau cover that appears to be in good shape. In summary, why buy a rust bucket when a car with this solid of a body is out there for sale and it makes a restoration much easier and can be done by far more of you when you don't have to pay a body shop to replace panels.
