Vehicle Detail
Hi there! Please read entire discription!!!! Up for auction is a 1970 Kaiser Jeep CJ5. This was the year that Kaiser Jeep was bought out by AMC. This could be one of the last Kaiser Jeeps to be built. Other than the fender flares, wheels and tires, it looks all original. It has the famous Buick Dauntless 225 C.I. V-6 with a Rochester 2 Jet 2bbl carburetor. It has 3 speed manual transmission, with 2wd, 4wd hi and 4wd low ranges. It also has Warn lock out hubs. It has the original axles with 3.73-1 gears. Tires are in very good condition and hold air all around. The engine starts right up and only has a small amount of smoke when first started. The Jeep has set awhile and there is a few lifters that seem to be stuck. I changed the oil and added Rislone to try to help free things up. Transmission works as it should and shifts smoothly. Clutch feels great. We pulled one of the front brake drums and it was a little oily, so it may need front axle seals or wheel cylinders. It does stop and the brakes work, but not too well due to the oil on the shoes and drums. The body has less than normal rust. Even though it has had one repaint, Orange is the original color. The driver side floor will need to be repaired or replaced. The rest of the floors are pretty solid. There are fiberglass patches on top of the rear wheel tubs behind the rear parts of the roll bar, and one at the spare tire mount. Also patches on the tops of the inner part of the front fenders where the brace holds dirt. Most of the electrical system works, but looking at the wiring, it should be rewired. Most noticeable is the turn signals and parking lights do not work. The horn, headlights, wipers, brake lights, speedometer, oil gauge, and the spot light on back all do work. The gas gauge may or may not work. It reads almost full. The radio/cassette makes a crackle noise and probably needs speakers, but lets just say it does not work. Even though the speedometer works, I can't be sure of actual miles. The pictures tell the story about the external part of the body. At least we did not hide all the rust with aluminum diamond plate like most of the ones you see. The tailgate has a little rust along the bottom and the sides where they all rust. The frame is rock solid and only has minor surface rust. I drove it up to 40 mph on our street and it did not seem like a suicide mission. It seemed pretty stable considering the size of the tires. The top bows are on it, and it comes with soft doors in decent shape. It does not have the top though. The front seats look new, and the rear seat comes with it, but that looks to be original, and should be recovered. I have described this Jeep as honest as I can. Please contact me if there are any questions, or if you want to see any pictures of any special areas. The Jeep does have a clear NC title. Buyer would pay cash or Paypal. If Paypal, buyer would pay for the transaction. Buyer will arrange pick up or shipping.
