RELISTED DUE TO NON-PAYING BIDDER. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DON'T INTEND TO BUY YOUR BID IS A BINDING AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE 1954 Plymouth Belvedere The Flagship of the Plymouth line in its day. The sales brochures which come with this car show the new Plymouth as the darling of the top hat and evening gown crowd. Magazine road testers touted Plymouth as the most comfortable riding car in its class. Plymouth called it their "Truly Balanced Ride,” The ride was achieved by moving the body and engine forward, thus cradling the passengers more centrally between the wheels. This Belvedere has a reasonably complete list of options for 1954 including: · Overdrive 3 speed transmission · AM radio · Heater · Directional signals (yes, they were optional) · Full wheel covers, (a $14.00 option) · Bumper Guards · Two-tone Paint · Back up lights · Electric Clock · Windshield washer fluid system Unlike the competitors, the 1954 Plymouth came standard with electric wipers. This Belvedere is beautiful San Leandro Ivory over San Pedro Blue. It has fresh paint with all the original chrome trim in place and in nice shape. Inside, it has the original headliner and carpet but the seats and, door panels, have been redone and they look beautiful. Under the hood the 6 cylinder engine has had a valve job and tune up in the last 1500 miles; I just changed the oil and filter and added an electric fuel pump (the original fuel pump is still in place to maintain the original look of the engine compartment). The engine runs great and hums along smoothly. The 3-speed transmission with the optional overdrive shifts in and out of gear with ease exactly as it should. The brakes stop the car well and the brake shoes are almost new. The electrical system is the original 6 volt system (except for the addition of the fuel pump) and except for the gas gauge everything works as it should including the heater, the cigarette lighter and all the lights. I drive it around Denver but if you want to drive it home and you live a long ways away you might want to consider putting new tires on it. The tires have plenty of tread and aren't weather checked but I think they are kind of old. The Odometer says almost 39k I would imagine that it’s 139k but I do not know for sure. The metal on this car is straight and true. The previous owner owned it since 1976 and is responsible for getting it into the fantastic condition that it’s in. Mind you, it’s not perfect but it is in very nice condition. I used a magnet to check for bondo and if there is bondo or rust on it, I can’t find it. The floors are solid and so is the trunk. Sorry I don’t have photos of the underneath but I don’t have a lift to put it on. You won’t find any surprises though, other than light surface rust on the underside it is solid and in good shape. I have uploaded a video of the car which shows the outside, inside, and me starting and driving the car. The video is 3 minutes long please take the time to watch this 3 minute video. I apologize if the video is shaky. I took it with my phone but I thought it would be helpful to you. In the video when I back up you can see steam from the car. This is not smoke! It is steam. It was freezing cold that morning. In fact, if you look closely you can see that it is snowing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA-6OsgVloc I've tried to think of everything I could but Please ask any questions you may have. and ask them early don't wait until the last minute, others may be wondering the same thing. Oh, I forgot to mention that in addition to the dealership brochures antd owner's manual that the owner kept since this vehicle was new I also have a Plymouth repair manual that I see selling on Ebay for $50 or more and I will give them all to the winning bidder with the purchase of this car.
