Vehicle Detail
Here's your chance to own a Milestone Classic Movie car and not break the bank! I have decided to sell my 1969 Cadillac Eldorado. This car was commissioned at the end of 2009 for the filming of the Disney Move "Secretariat", about the Triple Crown winning race horse. The Eldorado was commissioned as the car of Secretariat trainer Lucien Lauren, played by actor John Malkovich. It appears in 5 scenes in the movie! Photo #7 is a clip from the movie wth the actor walking toward the car! I have had great fun with the car since the movie!!! People actually recognize it! This Eldorado is a driver! I am selling because I am thinning out my collection. I have owned this great car for about 3 years . I truly have enjoyed this dependable driver. Mechanically this Eldorado is very good. It runs and drives great. The transmission shifts smoothly. Recently I added a new carburetor and alternator. The brakes are new all around, including master cylinder. The radial tires have less than 2000 miles on them. Right after I bought the car, I added new leather upholstery. The rest of the interior is very nice. The original door panels, carpeting, dash board, and headliner are all in very good condition. Even the original Cadillac crested floormats are still in place. The passenger's door has inside handles for front and back seat passengers, and Eldorado extra. All of the power windows work. An interesting feature about this car is that the rear windows disappear into the roof! The power seats work on both sides, but are a little sluggish. The power antenna is still working, but the AM/FM radio does not. Also, on this model the horn was blown by squeezing the steering wheel. The contact strip was gone when I bought the car, so I covered the steering wheel in leather. It will need to have a horn button run, or a replacement steering wheel would be an expensive fix!!! (They are very rare!) The inside of the trunk is all original and in very good condition. The automatic pulldown still works. The spare looks to be the original! The previous owner had the car repainted several years ago in its original marroon color. The paint looks great and has a nice shine, but is not show quality. The car is rust free except for some spots under the original white vinyl top, and where the vinyl top meets the trunk (see pics. 23 & 24). There are parking lot "nicks" here and there. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO RUST IN THE LOWER QUARTERS OR FLOOR! The chrome looks great as is! I would call it very good original. However, there is pitting on some of the smaller chrome pieces(see pics. 11 & 12). Oddly enough, this car came from the factory without Air Conditioning! I have never seen another one like it. It is an excellent candidate for Vintage Air! Under the hood, you will see that the car is driven. For car shows, the engine compartment would need a complete detail. As with most of these old Cadillacs, there are minor oil leaks. Here you have it in a nutshell....a great old car looking for a new home.....a car loaded with interesting Cadillac features....front wheel drive.......a massive hood......short deck......you feel like you're riding on a cloud! This vintage Eldorado has been on the Milestone Classic list for years. The prices on these can't go anywhere but UP UP UP, as the values are still in range. Here is a chance for someone to grab one at a reasonable price before the prices go thru the roof! The car is nice enough to drive and enjoy as is, but would be an excellent candidate for restoration. The car is garaged in Lafayette, Louisiana, where I-10 meets I-49, convenient for your shipping company! Please contact David at (337) 237-6074 or dlmmds@cox.net with any questions. Deposit of $500.00 due within 24 hours of close of auction by paypal, cash, or wire transfer. Full payment due within 7 days of close of auction. I am willing to store the car for up to 30 days if necessary.
