Vehicle Detail

Fantastic 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE in beautiful condition! Purchased by the original owner in 1972, garage kept for 38 years, and driven an average of 3,600 miles per year! I have owned this car for the past year, and have clocked about 500 miles on it (for pleasure, and to show at Antique Automobile Club of America events). The car has a 2.8L Inline-6, with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 6-cylinder is amazingly powerful, and easily cruises on interstates at higher speeds. The Grey-Beige paint is original and has no problems, as is the immaculate chrome, which has no pitting anywhere. The interior is fitted with Saddle-colored leather (with expected age wear, especially on the driver's seat), excellent, handcrafted and varnished woodwork, and a crack-free dash. Additionally, the car has a factory Becker radio and cassette player (radio not working, and cassette player unable to be tested). The factory carpets throughout are in immaculate condition, having been protected with the highest quality mats from Palm Fibre Coco Mats. The headliner is well-fitted and in good condition. The huge trunk is also immaculate, complete with a side mounted spare tire. The other tires have ample tread. The imposing grill is flanked by amber fog lights, which are also the turn indicators, and the "stacked" headlights. The heater is fully functional, while the air conditioner needs to be checked (missing clamp on A/C hose has most likely allowed freon to escape). This classic automobile is rust and accident free, a definite tribute to the obsessive owner of 38 years. The car was inspected last week (2-21-11) at a Nashville area Mercedes-Benz specialist, showing only the A/C belt that needed to be tightened. Inspection also showed spark plugs to be fairly new. While on the lift, the undercarriage showed no rust (previous owner and I have never driven the car in snow or rain). A couple of items to note are: the radio antenna is missing, the dash clock is not running, the right rear wheel cover is not the same exact color of the other three, the horn is not operational, and the rearview mirror has a hairline, vertical crack. Also, the right rear wheel well has a paint scuff (see photograph; first owner stated that the scuff was caused by moving their riding lawn mower in the garage). This car is a reliable daily driver; I drive or start this car daily, and I have only repaired one item this past year: The back lights were not working properly, and needed a new brake light switch at the brake pedal for $95.00. The yellow European license plate from Luxembourg is included. Please contact Patrick with any questions through eBay, or by phone @ 615.668.2777. Additionally, let me know how I can help on this end with any transportation details.
