This is an original 1.8 8 valve engined GTI. I am the 3rd owner I purchased it 5 years ago with 78,000 original miles. 1 year into my ownership the car was involved in a minor rear end fender bender. At that point I decide to use it as an opportunity to completely overhaul the car as follows: New, built from scratch upgraded 2.0L 8 Valve (ABA) engine including new A/C and Power Steering. Engine management is OBD1, the entire engine and body wiring harness are from a 1995 Car. All new suspension components including: Sparco 2" Lowering springs, KYB shocks, new control arms and bushings. New exhaust components including muffler, low-restriction cat. Recaro front seats. New Headliner, custom leather shifter boot and E-brake boot. New 14" tires and wheels. New drilled rotors and ceramic brake pads. 100% paint and body restoration (stripped to bare metal and repainted). Body modifications include removing and smoothing of door moldings and wheel arches. Upgraded MK3 style door handles. There is some slight bubbling of the paint on the passenger side rear wheel well. This is a completely rebuilt reliable daily driver. It has been driven 20,000 miles since the rebuild without one problem. All work was done by certified professionals, this is not some amateur hackjob. It is a great, fun car to drive.
