Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1962 MGA MkII project. The car was Iris Blue with black interior according to the Heritage Certificate. There were only 2,365 1962 MGA MkII imported to North America from England so this is a fairly rare car. The is a project that I started about a year ago when I discovered it sitting behind a local high school. This was a true barn find. The gentelmen who owned it had passed away and his wife wanted to get rid of it but didn't know how to do it.I bought it and began the restoration process. The frame was striped and painted with POR15. All the rust was repair and new floor rails where installed as need. The front end was completely rebuilt using Moss Motors major rebuild kit. It also includes MGB V8 bushing, rebuilt shocks and trunions from Apple Hydraulics, new rack boots, tie rod ends. New brake rotors were installed with new wheel bearings and seals. The rear end was treated to new seals, bearings and polyurethane bushings for the springs and shakles. All new brake line were then added to the frame. The rear brakes were completely rebuilt with new shoes and wheel cylinders The engine is the correct 1622cc with the correct head (note 16 on the head in picture) and crank. It comes with a 1500 engine for parts. The 1622 was disassembled for rebuild and the complete 1500 came along with the deal. The transmission is also correct for the MkII as noted by the ribs on the case. The transmission was also treated to new seals and gaskets. A Moss Motors head kit and all new valves and guides are included to rebuild the head. The body was sandblasted and painted with an epoxy primer. New inner rockers were installed. The the following new sheet metal is included and will require installation: new bulkhead, radiator duct panel, and new out rockers. A new trunk floor is installed. The body is ready to be finished and lowered on to the frame. The fenders still need to be stripped. The car was a wire wheel car at on time but was changed to solid wheels sometime in its life. The solids are much easier to deal with. The wheels are blasted and painted and ready for tires. This is a great project with much of the hard work already done. It is well worth the time and effort to complete it. You could not get this point in the project for Buy it Now price. The car will require a trailer to move as you can see. I have a clear Florida title in my name. If you have zero feedback do not bid. Your bid will be canceled. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Please feel free to ask any questions. On Feb-20-11 at 06:35:43 PST, seller added the following information: Several questions have been asked about missing parts. I will try to tell what is need to finish the project. The following items are needed: A new wiring harness. The gauages were shot so I would source nice used ones. A fuel tank kit including tank, straps, and sending unit and fuel lines. Fuel Pump Exterior emblems Grill Interior: Carpet kit, panel kit, and seats New floor boards will need to be made, blue prints are included with the project. For those who don't know these cars had wooden that is plywood floors from the factory. Master cyclinder, slave cylinder and lines. These items were not missing when I bought the car but are items that one would replace in a complete restoration. The project is a 49 year old car and these items where not serviceable. I have tried to list the items that will need to be replaced but this list is of the major items need.
