-- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- **NO MINIMUM BID -- THE TOP BIDDER WINS** 1968 Porsche 912 K-Code Osnabrück Odometer: 000,772 Miles Engine Runs More than 400 Detailed Pictures & Video Below Getting to know me, your seller: I let you know all of the following not to somehow impress you (not that it necessarily would), but rather to demonstrate that I have a reputation to uphold, which I also rely on for business purposes. I am an Ivy League graduate. I am in my mid-30s. I am a serious fellow, and I've been on the national and local TV news giving unpaid and unsolicited financial market commentary; also been in major national newspapers and magazines doing the same. Most recently, I was quoted in AARP magazine. There is nothing being hidden about this car, as so many people do. You don't get 100% positive feedback over 11 years of registration by hiding things. If there is something you should know about this car of which I am aware, it's available to you in the auction. I go out of my way to make sure people are satisfied. Look at my specific feedback...look how the guy who bought the truck recently said, "You can trust Seth with your eyes closed." I work hard to make sure I get comments like that; I don't take it lightly, and it means a tremendous amount to me. I look forward to getting to know you if you'd like me to (or if you'd like to buy the car without me getting to know you, that's OK too!)! The car: You are bidding on a 1968 Porsche 912 manufactured at the Karmann factory in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany. It has a 4-speed Manual Transmission. The car has not been registered and on the road for a long time, but does run and you can see that in a video that I will post below. The fuel-air mixture is very rich and obviously needs to be tuned. It hadn't been started in many years, and so just to demonstrate that it runs I simply connected a supplemental fuel cell in the engine, connected a fresh battery, checked the oil and it started up without much cranking. The clutch pedal and brake pedal go to the floor. The seats feel comfortable and all the tires hold air, though they are clearly not roadworthy as they are probably 20 years old. It rolls and steers nicely and the hand brake stops the car when rolling. This 912 has a clean and clear Florida title. I am told it has the original engine but I don't know how to verify that although I'm sure there's a way. -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- NO MINIMUM BID -- THE TOP BIDDER WINS Use the combination of the photos, videos and text for full disclosure, with more emphasis on the photos and videos as the description is clearly not intended to be exhaustive. Let me repeat that for emphasis: The words in the description are not meant to be exhaustive. As eBay says, a single picture is worth a thousand words. eBay strongly recommends the best practice of providing as many photos as possible and letting the photos do the talking/writing, rather than trying to describe in words what can be seen in a photo or trying to recreate in words what already is in provided photos. You have more than 400 pictures of this 912 for full disclosure about anything observable in them. I have been registered on eBay for close to 11 years and have 100% positive feedback. Any questions, message me through the eBay messaging system, and I will answer promptly, or you can call me at (Five-Six-One) Three-76-Two-Two-Seven-Nine. The Fuchs wheel centercaps were not mounted in some of the pictures but the 4 of them do come with the auction. A few of them were in the glove compartment which I had forgotten about. I put them back on in the remainder of the photos. The engine cover is not mounted rigidly. I think at least one of the brackets needs attention. It does latch on the bottom and stay in place, but you need a helper to lift up on it while you pull the release to remove the cover. The fuel door operates if you pull the cable with your fingers through the service access in the fender when the door is open, but not via the pull knob on the dash which is a bit frozen in place. One headlight is burned out. I don't know whether the blinkers work. I think some/most of the other lights work. The engine leaks oil from a braided tube you can see on the engine as it's running, and a bit while stopped but just some drips...not a huge puddle. The doors both close and the hood latches. You have to swing the driver's door a bit harder than the passenger door to get it to latch and it doesn't close absolutely perfectly flush so the striker/latch/hinges need attention. I am not sure if you can see that in the photos so I mention it, though I am also not sure if most people would even notice such a very nuanced/minor door close difference. The windows operate fine up and down. The rear vent windows also open and close fine. The emergency brake works fine. The tachometer, warning lights, etc. work. (I am not saying every single one because I haven't tested them all...they may all work, I don't know...I am just saying they generally work.) The following slideshow automatically displays the first 100 of the ~400 available pictures. That's just a Photo Bucket limitation...to view the rest of them, right-click on the "View all" at the bottom right of the slideshow and select open in new tab or window: (video will be posted below in an auction revision...they are not finished uploading yet.) AUCTION RULES: Full payment is due within within 7 calendar days of auction ending by either cash in-person or bank wire only. (Once you receive a fraudulent cashier's check from a buyer, you'll never accept another "certified" bank check either!) Pickup is also due within 14 calendar days, and may not occur until funds have cleared. Storage for the first 14 days is FREE. There is a storage charge of $150/week beyond 14 days, and is limited to 2 extra weeks (for a total of 4 weeks of storage). A $500 deposit is due by PayPal within 24 hours of auction end. You must read the entire auction description, follow the rules, and study each picture and video(s) fully. I do not offer any kind of a warranty on anything that I sell, ever, as a matter of policy -- this car is As Is with no warranty. -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserve -- * * * NO MINIMUM BID -- THE TOP BIDDER WINS * * * On Feb-17-11 at 23:17:51 PST, seller added the following information: Technical correction: It is more accurate to state the odometer reads 00,772 and not 000,772 as written in the opening lines, as it as a 5-digit odometer, not 6.On Feb-18-11 at 08:46:58 PST, seller added the following information: The following 4-minute video is an important demonstration of this Porsche 912. Please watch it: On Feb-19-11 at 09:44:00 PST, seller added the following information: Something not visible in the photos... the driver's seat rocks a minor amount on its mounting bolts, so needs to be tightened. An error: The hood has a two-stage safety latch. It latches on to the 1st stage, and goes to the 2nd stage (fully closed) position and pretty much stays there, but doesn't latch and I don't want to slam it down hard to see if that latches the 2nd stage. On Feb-24-11 at 11:34:49 PST, seller added the following information: Someone rightly pointed out to me that when I wrote, "the clutch and brake pedal go to the floor," of course the clutch pedal goes to the floor as that's what it does when working properly. The brake pedal goes to the floor because it isn't activating the brakes. The clutch pedal goes to the floor, but without enough resistance...it is not separating the clutch plates, I presume because it has no hydraulic fluid in its system. On Feb-24-11 at 21:30:02 PST, seller added the following information: I just listed for auction five other Porsches. Click "View Seller's Other Items" to view them. They are all 911's of varying years...a 1971, a 1972, a 1976, and two 1983's. Feel free to make me an offer for one, some of them, or all of them.
