Vehicle Detail
1958 BMW Isetta/Micro Car WITH 31,994 MILES THIS LITTLE ISETTA REALLY GOT AROUND!! The micro cars craze has become quite prevalent among many collectors. One collector alone is known to have over 300 Micro Cars. The BMW Isetta is one of the all time favorites. The unique front door opening and large comfortable front seat has been an attraction from the first days when these cars were manufactured. These vehicles were the ultimate in efficient and affordable transportation. The design was developed in Italy after WWII and licensed by BMW for manufacturing in Germany. It is well known that the Isetta was responsible for financially saving BMW right after the war. The Isetta received the nickname ‘Bubble Car’ because of the bubble like windows and its egg shape design. Many consider the Isetta to be the best micro car not only because of its size being 7.5 long and 4.5 wide but because of the extreme comfort on the inside of the vehicle for two passengers. Economy was the name of the game and the small 3.5 gallon fuel tank at 70 mpg could give almost 250 miles range per tank. Several Isetta’s of the day were entered in the Mille Migia in 1954 and did an average speed of 43 miles per hour for a distance of 1,000 miles. The Isetta only dropped out in popularity after the introduction of the Fiat with its 500 C model. This particular car with sun roof has been owned by the current owner for over 30 years. About 15 years ago the engine and all mechanics were rebuilt but the car has now been in storage for well over five years and has not been started. The tires have gone flat. It is the intention of the owner to sell this Isetta through this ad and if it does not meet the very low reserve the high bidder will be contacted for a second chance offer at a compromised price. These Isettas are very popular with collectors of large classic cars and even muscle cars as a unique and interesting topic of discussion in their garage. They are also fun to take to the local Saturday night drive-in. This particular Isetta will need a freshening up of the paint most likely to cover up the existing logo that has been painted on the sides and at a minimum tuning of the engine and a set of tires. The reserve is set below a third of the cost of a restored Isetta. The photos of the car have been blurred out. Happy Bidding! There is no warranty implied or otherwise.
