Here is a fine year for the VW Bus collector / lover. 1971 was a good year and especially with the rear Driver's side Louver windows- perfect for camping. Since taking the photos in Joshua Tree I have a full set of Hub Caps. Tires OK - But should be replaced sometime before too many more miles. I hate to let go but can no longer restore the way I wanted to. It needs a little body work and a great paint job to really show off. Interior is ok for it's age - ceiling intact but front seats are not original but have head rests! Only has 1 Rear Bench seat and side panels Tan - Seat need to be restored or covered. Original Rubber Floor mats are there but have some wear. What I've done: Replace side Mirrors with quality reproductions and had engine seals replaces as well as Alternator, Fan and Speedometer Cable which had been making noise as wheel turned. Now it is fine. Transmission has a common fault of "popping out of 4th gear. Original seller did not state but I discovered a ring strap on stick shift and Bungy cord on floor - yep that is the poor man's fix and I have to admit it works. Though a serious restoration would need to fix/replace the transmission. As for body is mostly good except for Rear passenger side which shows evidence of some scrapping causing small dens at wheel well and bottom left of sliding door. See pics. Does not appear major to me. Basically it runs fine but may need some tuning adjusting. I've tried to honestly tell you about this cute bug that even now gets comments wherever I go. Has been mostly in the Joshua tree area but is currently in Los Angeles if you want to see in person. I'm looking to sell fast at a fair price as I need some extra money at the time.
