History/Overview -- Motorcycle is a 2000 BMW R1100RT-P ex-police tourer. It is in great running condition! I purchased it at about 48k miles in July 2008 from an independent dealer in Sun Valley, CA. It has been used for leisure weekend rides until about eight months ago, when I started using it for daily commutes to and back from work at about 40 mi/day 5 days/wk. It is normally kept under a cover on the driveway when not used. I am selling because I am leaving the country for an extended period. Please feel free to ask questions. Please bid only if you are serious and your feedback score is greater than 5. Exterior condition -- Almost all the visible painted fairing parts are free from paint damage. The bottommost piece under the oil-filter has some scratch marks, but only if you look from the ground. I have tossed away the two front police-specific crash bars. The rear crash bar is still in place but has some rust due to rain. I have replaced both sideview mirrors, front headlight fairing and gas-tank fairing with darker color parts. They were all white originally. The sideview mirror are non-OEM, eBay Chinese replicas in graphite color. The front headlight fairing and gas-tank fairing are used OEM pieces in graphite color. There is some slight color mismatch between the sideview mirrors and headlight fairing. The seat is in good condition. The saddlebags have some exterior scratches but work fine. There are some scratches on the rear police radio-box cover. Mechanical condition/Maintenance -- The engine runs great. The transmissions shifts smoothly. There is no abnormal noise during operation. The ABS lights on the dash blink, meaning ABS system has issues, but both front and rear brakes work fine. Brake-lever feel is solid. All brake pads have about 40% life left. Both front and rear tires were replaced 2500 miles ago with Metzeler ME880. These tires should last over 10k miles. The battery was replaced at 50k miles. I followed the recommended maintenance schedule closely and perform them myself. I use only the best Amsoil lubricants. Please see below for my maintenance log. I inspected the front and rear brake pads. The front pads has about 40% left. The rear pads has about 60% left. At 58888mi on Dec 31, 2010, the following are done a. changed engine oil Shipping -- I will ship the motorcycle anywhere in contiguous 48 US states. Please ask me for a shipping quote. I am located in Los Alamitos, CA, or about 1hr-drive from LAX airport. You are welcome to come look at the motorcycle. You will be responsible for all shipping charges. You also have the option of picking your own shipping company. Payment -- $500 PayPal deposit is due in 24hr after auction ends. If the deposit is not received within 24hr, I reserve the right to sell the motorcycle to others. The remainder is due in seven days in the form of a cashier's check. Please notify me within 24hr after auction ends whether you want the motorcycle shipped or you are picking it up. The motorcycle must be picked up within seven days after auction ends.
