Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE: 1979 Cadillac Coupe Deville 5.7 liter V-8 DIESEL engine (350 cu. in) in pristine condition. ALL ORIGINAL, with only 16,850 miles. This car is extremely rare because of its condition, and even rarer because of its low mileage factory diesel, engine. It is a California car that is rust free and registered to October 2011. The color is Slate Firemist with a slate gray vinyl roof. Everything is completely factory original and the paint and leather still look new; the chrome really sparkles. It starts easily, runs beautifully and has lots of power for a diesel that gets 26 miles per gallon. Everything is in working order including the power seats, power windows, power trunk hood, climate controls, radio, outside temperature gauge, and all interior/exterior lights. This car was originally purchased by a retired couple and has been stored in a garage for the past 15 years since the death of the husband. During this time it has occasionally been driven short distances to ensure the car is kept in working order. The wife recently passed away and I purchased the car in the estate sale. The car has been serviced with lube and oil change, two batteries have been replaced, the fuel tank drained and the generator v-belt replaced. The mechanic commented that this car is in superb condition and appears like it was transported in a time machine from 1979. Included are the owner’s manual, a Haynes manual, a Chilton manual, a 1979 Cadillac color chip chart, jack, wire wheel key, and car cover. Known and possible defects: There are a couple of cracks in the rear plastic filler panels which is a common problem for GM cars of this vintage. I did some minor touch up and purchased the ABS replacement parts which will need to be painted, if replacement is deemed desirable. . The plastic cover over the AC unit in the engine bay has deteriorated. The original dash had cracks and has been replaced with a defect free dash but with a slight color variation. Easy to correct with matching “antique slate” vinyl paint. Some small cracks in the driver side armrest. There is a small ding in the front right filler. Part of the headliner has sagged. I understand the tires were replaced in 1992. They appear almost like new with plenty of tread but it may be wise to replace the tires given their age. Buying an original car that has been well preserved is a lot less expensive than restoring one. Few cars are a good investment but I feel the condition and rarity of this Cadillac diesel can only make it rise in value. Even the number plate “880 YUE” portends prosperity. TERMS Sale is final at close of auction. The seller has made a great effort to disclose imperfections so that you know exactly what you are buying.
