I know this sounds like a "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" story, but I'm selling this car for my mom, who will turn 88 years old on February 14th. If you have ever watched an octogenarian try to climb into or out of a Firebird, you will understand why she hasn't driven it for years. I have enough trouble getting in and out of it, and I'm only 57. This car has never, ever been abused or wrecked. However, it's a little on the rough side due to an initial 14 years spent in the frozen, snowbound North (Chicago area) and then an ensuing 13 years of little parking lot and door dings. And then there was my dad with his not-quite-matching paint that he actually applied with a brush over the few areas of surface rust. I guess his eyesight wasn't so great anymore by that time! Anyway, the car has been sitting in my parents' garage for several years now and the only time it sees daylight is when once in a while I think to fire up the engine and take it around the block. The engine starts well but to me seems to be missing a little on one cylinder. Everything on the car is dirty or tatty. The Recaro seats started out white but my dad (a machinist) apparently sat in them far too many times in his work clothes, and Dad completed one other truly bizarre remodel with the strange nylon knob he made for the shifter. All this is why I am offering the car cheap. It just needs to go now, hopefully to somebody with the ability and desire to restore it. I am told that this body style is going to be the next collectible Trans Am, and of course the pace cars were relatively few in number making it at least somewhat special. Funny that Ebay has a button for "Sunroof" but nothing to check off that says "T-Tops." Obviously, this car has glass T-Tops. My parents were the car's second owners, having bought it when it was still almost new. The car is now located in Huntsville, Texas. It drives well and you shouldn't have any trouble driving it home (assuming you live in North America!) but hopefully the Highway Patrol will accept a receipt as evidence that you just bought it!
